Small follow-up question. Is it possible to somehow reference this event in a trigger? An event like "unit dies," but obviously it doesn't die. "Unit should have died"? Ha.
I could just set up a periodic effect and have it check for when the unit has <10 life or something, but then enemies that deal lots of damage won't be able to get it low enough. Any idea?
There are a few ways you can do it:
- Use the "Unit absorbs damage" event.
- Have a trigger periodically check when your unit is below X life and, if yes, do the actions.
- Add a dummy effect (like a set with no effects) to your behavior's damage response, have it target your unit, then have an "effect used" event and do the rest with triggers.
Awesome thanks guys. Really helpful. Nice that the campaign happened to have my answer built in this time. Helps to keep the whole map a little more parsimonious. Thanks again.
I want to essentially make the unit invincible right as the killing blow comes. Is there an easy way to set this up?
I'm not sure if data would be an easier way to do this either, so feel free to answer either way. thanks.

It would be easier with data. Make a new behavior, go to Damage Response, set Chance to 1, enable "Fatal" and set Modify Fraction to 0.
Alternatively, use the already existing behavior that does this, "Don't Die".

Nice. Thanks!! That's what I'm looking for.

Zagara has a behavior that prevents her death then fires off some effect. Just reference the effects with an event effect used.
Edit: My Vespene Warlord map uses this exact method in it's hero revive triggers. Feel free to copy.
