Alright I'm looking for the easiest and most efficient way of doing this. I've been all over Google and the forums trying to find this.
So I have a custom UI; a hotbar at the bottom of my map and images with a hotkey (much like WoW) and a description of a spell I want to use. I want to be able to hit, say, hotkey "5" and initiate an ability in the same way having the default UI and buttons work. For example, I tried to do blink and I wanted to hit "5" and bring up the search then, when I click a point, it'll blink me there. That, and I'd like the Psi Storm Search Area circle thing to come up if I hit another hotkey so that when I click it'll cast Storm there.
I've tried doing Issue Order to Unit "at target point" and "at target unit" but to no success. This is my first time messing around with custom UIs and stuff! Thanks ahead of time!
There is no way to bring up the skill targeting screen without the player actually using a skill button in the UI, you cannot access this via trigger at all.
So you have 2 options:
Use the "real" command card: You can modify it heavily using layout files. I am not sure, how exactly your UI should look like, but maybe you can get it to work this way. If you can, this would probably be the best solution.
Fake the skill UI: You would need to track mouse position and make models follow the cursor via trigger. This will probably be susceptible to bnet delay (while accessing the target selection for the default command card is instant), so most likely inferior.
