Weekly Terraining Exercise #47
Alright, I've got something cool for you guys. As per an idea by Sheogorath, this week's theme is an "Exercise Lottery". What this means is that you pick two random numbers between 1 and 46 (right now), and then look up their respective WTE's in the Global Information/Idea thread. Your exercise for this week is combining the subjects of your two numbers to create something cool.
As an example; I could pick the numbers 3 and 15. Number 3 is "create a ruined city" while number 15 is "recreate a real-life picture". Which means you'd go and google "ruined city" and tried to recreate a picture of a ruined city. Some goofy stuff should come up here. Good luck everyone!
Oh god, 26 A different kind of JTE and 41 TOFU Arena Contest. What the hell do I make from that?
Some combinations might seem odd - in that case it's up to you to decide how you're going to combine them. For example, in your case, you could attempt to create a 'JTE' style Arena map where you start off with a basic area and add stuff to it in small time-periods, trying to work with a different style as you go.
On another note: my numbers are 7 and 25 if I decide on joining in lateron. Gonna see what that is now...
Edit: "A place of Worship" and "Alien Worlds"... That's probably a combination of my two least favourite subjects >.>
I didn't quite get the "sadness and loss" aspect I was aiming for, but I'm still content with my results.
I rarely use the Mar Sara tileset, so it provided a decent challenge to make it work right. Not polished, with a few unfinished bits around the edges, but I lost my momentum and don't really feel like filling in the gaps right now.
Could probably use a bit more focus on the army, due to my topic, but hey - I'm a terrainer doing a terraining exercise, units are boring. :)
"Monday schools just started. No point checking mapster i check it to often already but i suppose i check it once before going to bed; an exercise posted 5 hours ago, on a monday!? And it's my suggestion? Yay!"
Thank you M-dawg for making my monday and the rest of the week a little bit better =).
Edit: A random number generator picked 2 and 18 for me (Yes for sure): To be king you do/don't need a castle, now how am i supposed to something around that? They totally contradict eachother!
I pretty like your! =P Philosophy man, think to what they are, a castle, divide it into smaller things... You know, "what is a castle?" Huge building? Bricks? River sourounding the building? Bridge? "What is 'not' a castle?" Air? Trees? etc. So, could a castle be made of air? So, it is a castle while it is not... Then it's up to you to make the castle looks like a castle but, made of air =P Or any other idea you have.
: 22 A-Ten-HUT - "showing off a Terran army in formation"
: 1 Dawn of a new era - "any terrain that signals the 'start' of something"
I whish I could have something funnier -_- I think I'll broke the rules and add another I really wanted to do, the "12: Under da sea" I like to complicate myself.

Or you just have a leader with his men against a king standing on his castle, the prior showing the other guy that you don't need a castle to be king

My random number generator gave me 22 and 8.
A-ten-HUT! meets Mar Sara Blues.
A terran army in formation on Mar Sara, that evokes a sad feeling. Hmm...
Oh god, 26 A different kind of JTE and 41 TOFU Arena Contest. What the hell do I make from that?
Hmm I got:
So... yeah ...

I wanted to give Weekely Terrain Exercise a try. But I got a really blandly combination...
19 Let's be pretentious + 40 Prisonmake
How the hell am I supposed to make a good looking prison without using doodads?
Anyway, here it's the result:
PD: I wasn't allowed to place units. But I had to put some prissoner... It looks quite better if you allow me to add more units (not doodads):
Tbf, I think you did pretty well Illion. Quite like that kind of prison. Awesome usage of cliffs.
Here's what I got so far:
A-ten-HUT! + Mar Sara Blues
I didn't quite get the "sadness and loss" aspect I was aiming for, but I'm still content with my results.

Well, I got #12 and 18...
"under da sea" and "to be King you need a castle"?!?
Time to dust off that Atlantis concept...
so far, that looks awesome (:
As for me, if I find time, I'll be doing a photo-realistic jungle; pewpew
I got #5 and #35 from my private lottery machine, "Under the mountains" and "The Tracks" :D
Thanks alot :D
Did some polishing and I'm "fairly" happy with it...
Got 13 and 46 - Morituri te Saluant(Gladiator arena thingy) and Where was Bin Laden hiding? Hmm well I tried. xd

@SheogorathSC: Go
Glad to hear it, hope the rest of your day wasn't too bad :)
As for your assigned terrains - good luck with that, I wonder how you're going to make that work =P
Hope this helps to choose random numbers :)

Working on projects:
Or you just have a leader with his men against a king standing on his castle, the prior showing the other guy that you don't need a castle to be king
To be king you dont need a castle- you need multiple castles!
