Last week's WTE had some interesting submissions, but this time the theme will be even stranger, or dare I say... "Textraordinary". As per a suggestion by Pokenoufl, the idea is that you make a terrain by only using textures in the way they obviously weren't meant to use. For example, the white desert Xil-sand texture is obviously meant to create a desert, but with the right lighting and settings one could use it for a snowy plain instead. What textures you use and how you use them are up to you, as long as they're not used for their original purpose (i.e. 'Bel'shir Temple' to create a Protoss Temple).
This ought to be interesting... Good luck, and have fun!
heh. If anyone wants to try it, here's an idea for anyone familiar with texture select by ID. try applying those textures to the units and making a landscape from the units or incorporating the units into the landscape.
Time to do some very odd, and unique texture play...
Edit: I used Monlyth Plates for the base of the tower, Agria grass green as a rocky texture near the edges of the acid, Char Fortress cracked lava as the green acid cracked ground, and char fortress dirt cracked as the broken cement outside the hut.
The "preview" button really helps when trying to figure out the textures you are going to use.
I used "Aiur Creep Holes" as main texture and added some "Aiur Grass" on it. Changed lightning to "Prison Ship". Even ice doodads fit on lava environment with red lighting. Default Aiur lighting on last picture.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #160

Aw, come now, no one has any other ideas? :D or is everyone simply tied up on time?

That's quite amazing. It looks like an entirely new tileset. Nice!
