We've done dark and gritty with Murder, so let's try something different a bit more ethereal. This week, the theme is "A Walk in the Clouds." You don't need to literally be walking, but make sure you have some altitude.
My rendition of Dalaran has changed a bit since this development screenshot was taken, mainly made more room so units don't get stuck as often as this is the central respawn hub for both factions. However I think this old development pic really captures this "city in the clouds" feel.
In the process of making a better dalaran once I am done with my current project and can return to Northrend.
Amber Ledge bridge to nowhere.
Right side still quite barren as global doodad limit exceeded.
Okay so I've tried posting 7 separate times and 2 of them were on a completely different browser, if this does end up going through, then let it be known that I have finished this WTE, but am unable to upload it. I'll try tomorrow.
Alright so here is my entry, did this in 42min, fast and sweet. Everytime I do a terrain, I try to do a small brainstorming before by giving myself some keywords of what I'd like to add in the terrain. Here my keywords were:
Ladder, background cars (thinking of the pre-made background with a city and moving stuff), bed, mountains, sphere of buildings, weird camera angles.
I started by doing the background as I wanted to have a kind of sky-city-ish like if we were always surrounded by the cities, then added the ladder to up in the sky and then made a bed while thinking of wargirl's recent bed creation. I added the mountains and the river, a couple grouped trees and fog at the top of the ladder and that's it.
I wanted to make something where you would lose the ground reference, where everything is mess up like in a dream, but I just did not fully apply the idea, although I feel like it could be an interesting idea, to have a terrain where the goal is to make something that is disorienting, without up and down, left and right... I wanted to add depth of field but it did not seem to work for some reason and I was lazy to try harder. And I forgot to check if a different lighting would make the result better... meh.
I think I've located the source of the problem, it is my internet. I cannot upload things to Imgur either, I have no idea what is wrong but I might be able to send an email with the files inside of it. So who wants it sent to them?
EDIT: Nevermind
So I found out that my WiFi adapter was basically being crushed into the wall because I forgot it was there, I tried giving it some space and my internet instantly improved. Lets see if this works.
You've got great detail on that so far, and I feel like it has the potential to be even greater. My one real gripe with the terrain as is is that I feel it doesn't convey the same sort of depth as the source image. To that end I would recommend trying to make the cliff itself taller, and applying some fog to make the bottom of the cliff start to turn blue, like in the real photo. Overall though, great work!

wipip ? Kiding but wip means Work In Progress. Like your neat terrain so far though.
Here's mine. I guess Artanis is more flying than walking, but whatever.
Here is my take on this WTE.
