I'm trying to make my terrain for my map but i have a problem. The general feel for it is rainy and dark, but if i go into the map, its quite bright. Is there a way i can just reduce the overall brightness of the map to make it feel more like nighttime/stormy than daytime
No, that way you adjust the settings, it's too complicated... (as in, its hard to make it seem good, instead of choppy pitch black light)And it doesn't set the lighting for map in game, you must use triggers, or edit the default light of map,
It really isn't that hard to make a good lighting setup, as long as you know what the various settings do. A bit of color theory knowledge helps for more exotic lighting environments.
And yes, it does in fact change the lighting in-game without the need for triggers or extra data editing - as long as the light you modify is your current map's default light.

Triggers:
Events: Map Initialization
Actions: Set (Lighting) for map blending over 0game seconds
I suggest using AgiraNight, it REALLY depends on what ur terrain is... So just test ur map while experimenting

Yes there is, you can adjust the lighting settings. You can find it under: Window - Lightning.

I'd lower the diffuse, ambient light, and exposure.
It should be possible to darken the colors of the terrains' textures too. However, lightning is probably the easiest way to darken.
the lighting editor is basically what i needed. ty
