Here's a thread featuring some of the best terrains that I've done. I'll regularly update this as I make more terrains.
There will be some pictures, a titel, a description, 2 pictures most.. And then if there's more pictures, a link to an Imgur album.
and possibly a download for the map.
Most of the maps are unfinished, and may or may not be touched upon again. So yeah, here we go.
A huge cave system underneath haven. It's used as nesting rooms and evolution chambers for the swarm.
It's huge rooms are carved out by big nydus worms.
The idea is that this is one of the biggest mining operations on Mar Sara. Most of the machine work is going on underground, that's why there's mostly empty topside. The omnirails are used to move minerals, machinery, or workers.
This temple is held by the Tal'Darim, fanatics who serve the Xel'naga.
The temple is build underground, where there are many natural and rich sources of Terrazine
It's also the origin of a rare purple crystal, it has magical powers such as the Khaydarin crystal, but in a much weaker sense
It's placed on a unknown moon somewhere.
This is eyecandy for me great terrain is just simple and yet every time i look at i see something else, I love the details and work you put on each map.

Awesome terrains, man! I would even say I'm a little jealous, honestly. :D
Huge fan of the Tal'darim temple and especially the Zerg cave. So rich and detailed. And they perfectly resemble what you would imagine those areas to look like.

StarCraft II: Annihilation Campaign - A 24 mission single-player campaign featuring unique heroes, custom tracks, boss battles, a varied set of mission scenarios and three intersecting storylines.
Thanks! lol, I really like a lot of your terrain too! Especially one I saw in your Terrain Preview #2... The terran jungle theme. Is it okay if I try to imitate that style? If yes, will you tell me which cliffs and textures you used? :p
Go right ahead. I wouldn't mind. Honestly, i'm happy to hear that you want to make a terrain based on something I did. The cliffs I used are Zerus Organic Cliffs 0 and Korhal Wastes Manmade Cliffs.

Focussing on the outsides right now, will move to terran interior etc later.
EDIT: I was thinking if you could maybe take some screenshots of the key terrain in your map and send it to me?
Its kind of stupid going through certain points of your video for inspiration etc

On another note, do you guys have any go to pictures when you look for inspiration?
I mean like other peoples terrain jobs. Not like pictures of painting of other things, just a BTW. :p

On another another note, do you have any ideas for some terrain? :)

Ah yeah, The map art thread :)
I use that a lot. I've got a folder with a bunch of pictures for it. I could also share that if anyone wanted that. It also have some pictures I've gathered from some other places. Like a low quality (But helpful) picture of the cliff models for the different tilesets. Even though it's without HotS cliffs.
I also use the Weekly exercise ones, as I also do those myself. But going through 200+ threads with probably 1000+ pages of text/pictures is kind of hard. Especially when it's full of starters :p

I actually a testers, so if you liked the warhounds and different Zerg genetic splits attacking you at the same time, you have to know that was all my idea, especially the warhounds spam request

I like that you've currently got a zerg, terran, and protoss terrain. Naturally, Zerg is the best :D
Thank you wargirl :D

I use two main sources when it comes to inspiration. The first one being this thread on Team Liquid: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-maps/251461-the-map-art-thread It's basically showcasing people's terrain and there's a lot of good stuff there to learn from.
Additionally, I use the Weekly Terraining Exercises and take a look at the terrains people create there. Tons of potential inspiration there as well. The Global Idea thread where you can find them all is here: http://forums.sc2mapster.com/development/terrain/14658-terraining-exercises-global-information-idea-thread/
