Do you have an idea how to define the distance between normal and -1 level? I really like how the cliffs fall off very sharply into the non-playable area.
I'm not sure how, there don't seem to be any options to manipulate.
I went Data -> Terrain Cliffs -> BelShir Organic Cliffs, but there are no options to change.
Another question: Why can I add rocks and some other objects to the lowest level of my map (the level thats not accessible), but not temple statues, trees or wrecks. There are tons of each on SoW, but it always displays a red colored cursor and gives a error sound whenever I try adding anything.
Whoops, I didn't have the editor in front of me when I said that. You actually want to go to Terrain Cliff Meshes, and the first field will be Cliff Heights.
This is probably the dumbest question ever, but how do I rotate things freely while placing them? I've only been able to find the edit -> rotate option..
I might need to write up a FAQ specifically for this reason. ICM just asked 4 out of the 5 most common questions ever about terraining and he's definitely not the first. I'll redirect you to my tutorial for now for more info, ICM - all questions you just asked are answered in there, so I'm sure your next 2-3 questions will be too.

Hey guys,
does anyone have an idea how you could create cliffs like the ones in SoW?
All over the map the man-made and the natural cliffs are mixing and joining, but whenever I try to recreate it, it keeps them cleanly seperated.
Also, how do you get the cliffs to fall off so far? They seem to be double as high as they are by default.
Thanks in advance!
tools -> brush -> allow cliff merging
or shift+i
Thanks!

If you go into Terrain Cliffs in the data editor, you can change the height fields for different cliff types
