So, I've recently had this problem of decals not being visible. The helper model shows up in the editor so I know it's there but I just can't see them. The Protoss Decals seem unaffected, though.
Am I seriously gonna have to redownload the entire game because if I am I'm gonna scream (that'd take me weeks with my slow-ass internet!)
I recall having this problem before years ago, but I have absolutely no idea what the issue was anymore. I do remember it was something trivial, fixable in a minute if you knew the solution.
Check the FAQ, I'm somewhat positive this issue is identical to the "placement indicators show up way below where they should be" problem that's in there. Also try pressing V a couple of times to enter/exit game view and see if that is the issue.
I'd like to point out that they show up in neither player created maps nor in the blizzard maps. They don't even show up in-game. It's like the model they put the decal texture on just isn't there anymore.
Oh, that's easy, that's a graphics issue: some decals don't show up with lower graphic settings. Either the terrain, effects, or texture quality fields in the graphic options impact this, if I recall correctly.
You or someone else may have (unknowingly) lowered these settings at some point.
I've got everything set a certain way for the best quality with minimal performance issues. The only reason this is an issue is because some maps use ground decals as a sort of path marker telling you where to go next.
Graphics
Shaders - Medium
Shadows - Medium
Terrain - High
Effects - High (I switch this to medium or low depending on how much I'm chugging)
Textures - Ultra
Post Processing - Medium
Models - High
I'll try and mess around with some settings. Let's see if I can get this fixed
Edit
Welp, that was a bust. Set it to High preset graphics and nothing changed. Still no decals.
I'm pretty stumped. This is the only solution I know for decals not showing up in general, which is definitely a different problem from what I nodded at earlier. If it is really happening in maps that aren't even your own, then it has to be something game or PC related; neither really boding well.
What you could try is running the repair tool before reinstalling the entire game?
I give up. It's not really a big deal. It's just a minor inconvenience needing to check every door way to see if it leads to where I want to be. Hopefully I won't encounter a map that absolutely requires me to be able to see them

That's strange
The option that shows or hide the projections is "effects". If it's in low, the decals wont show. But you're saying that you have them in high.
Have you reopened the map after changing the settings to let all actors reload?
