Ok I made a doodad for a map that uses PlanetViewKorhal model. Instead of looking like on the previewer (on the right) it looks daylight when placed on the map,
After playing with the lightings I saw some do that effect. Now the question is - because the ones that do the effect are not suitable for the entire map, can I change the lighting just for a specific area on the map or the lighting of a specific unit/actor?
I think you can alter the lighting in game like those people who did the sun dial clock thing. In that sense, you can change the lighting when you go to that part of the map and then change it back to the original when you leave.
You have to set up the lighting itself in the Lighting window (Under the Lighting Regions tab - pick a region, uncheck default settings and tweak the colors as you see fit. Region 1 is the default lighting across the entire map, so I'd recommend leaving it alone.)
Then, under your terrain editing tools you have a Lighting Regions button. Click the lighting region you want to paint, pick your brush settings just like if you were painting terrain textures, and start drawing it onto your map. You can blend lighting regions together to achieve gradients and partial lighting just like you can with terrain textures.
Another trick: you can also use the Remove Lighting brush to completely wipe out any lighting in a region - essentially giving you a 5th lighting region as long as you want "pitch black" to be one of your regions.
And since HotS you can actually see the final result in the editor (If you're in game view 'V'), so you don't need to test document to see the new lighting in-game anymore.
Lighting regions are a really nice tool for making your environments pop, like in this cave.
The problem is lighting regions are limited, they allow you to change very few parameters and it might not be enough to create that planet view on the right.

I found it, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to darken it as you have in that image there... Wait, maybe I can use pitch black with faint lighting... Hmm...
I just copy any stats that are the same for the the Lighting I wanna copy and the Region, so if Mar Sara Day has RGB this, Specilarity that, values I copy the exact same values in region, Regions lack lots of the values that Lightings have but they reach the effect you want. E.g I could do that
for example, above, I would create a lighting region and set the Region stats to be the same as Lighting - Planet View Korhal stats which would make the same effect.

See how that goes

I actually Believe this has been added in 1.5, If I am not mistaken. Area and player specific lighting.
Oh I see it is part of the upcoming patch. I will wait for it then, thanks :)
Necrobump, but how does one use this area specific lighting? (I can't seem to figure it out)

@ScrinKing: Go Just have to decrease the RGB values of the Key and Ambient lights to make it darker.
Thanks! Helped me in the latest WTE (which I will be posting in a few minutes)
