I was wondering if a higher resolution terrain texture was possible since I haven't experimented with it at all. I just thought that it would look better from a closer camera view (such as with a 3rd person map).
I am pretty sure you can get away with it if its a decal, or 3d model embedded.
No clue if there is a way to up the resolution of the default textures much though (all of this is on my list of things I want to test out at some point).
Might be possible if you make the terrian Diffuse, Specular and Normal Map the size you want.
Divide that size by the standard tile size and use that on the UV t3info.xml in the map SC2MAP MPQ.

Kinda hacky but it should work.
It seems like it is scaled smaller, but the resolution remains constant. So the detail actually decreased. :\
2048x2048 is probally max for SC2 maybe you need take a look into the cinematics they use big textures to :) maybe you can check how they fix it there.
