After such a long time of relative quietness, I thought it was time to bring a little bit of focus back to what we're all waiting for; Heart of the Swarm. This week's theme is going to be the "Prehotstory". What this means is that, using regular Wings of Liberty tilesets, I want to see you guys try and make terrains or scenes that you expect to see in Heart of the Swarm. Try and recreate a tileset from one of the announcement videos, or a planet Kerrigan's hive plans on attacking - whatever you can come up with.
Good luck, wonder if people will be able to make this into something interesting.

Awesome textures (by Blizz ofc), I suppose there isn't integrated material editor (unlike, Crysis Sandbox =))
Char/monlyth rocks could make awesome ice obelisks with small recoloring and opacity, though.
Can't wait!
You can replace textures on doodads and units using the Texture Select by ID method, so something like in the screenshot would be possible with the current assets.
I've had a mental image of an inhabited Protoss planet, with a few central cities / towns, and the rest of the planet either ocean / jungle. In the jungle is where the first Zerg spores landed, and this is one of the cave entrances that the Zerg will come from 'Cue blizzard cinematic with a few zerglings / drones coming out of the cave to start a new base'.
Not ambitious, but wanted to get the ball rolling and get something in in the few minutes a week I get spare now!

I expect HotS to look somewhat like this

Nice terrain, that's definitely Blizzlike quality.
@Mozared: Go
Err... isn't that a Blizzard screenshot lol?
That's cheating.
Yea, I can unfortunately not terrain as good as that, but it could hopefully inspire some of you good terrainers to make something similar :)

Fight between Kerrigan forces and other zerg hives :)
@Thunderzak: Go
You can't see anything with that lighting.
@Nebuli2: Go
with 2g of rhum in the blood it seemed alright... will do better next wte ;)
@Thunderzak: Go
He he.
"There's too many zerg...we're not gonna make it!"
Based it off a scene in the trailer. Couldn't find the right level of lighting though.
