Trick or Terrain! As per request, it's time to do a holiday-themed WTE! For this Halloween, we'll start off with something simple: I want you all to terrain me something creepy. A forest, a haunted house, an evil spirit housing in a robot - whatever you feel like.
I love how you instert the Ultralisk. Though, I think the first plan could have be better. I feel like the little camp could have a bette look, more doodads, maybe plants (or dead plants), you know... try to make it like if it was a real situation and not 3D. I think some shadow render are kinda bad.
I already saw this kind of camp, add it something special =P
There we go with a kind of haunted house with dead corpses everywhere and one living dark marine... I pretty like it. It was very difficult to set the light to see the details while keeping the very dark atmosphere. I think it's not bad, but many details are too dark, so we don't see everything for example: the blood doesn't render well caus of the dark and the stair's shadow because of the light angle to create the effects with the tree's shadows. There is alot of different doodads. Look carefully and you will see them =P. As a side question: is there any way to make higher definition printscreen because seriously... it's not enough big to see all the details on my actual printscreens.
You have performed well, young padawan. It is now clear to me that you are an expert in the way of the rock. Go forth, and rock!
Really well done, and some very original doodad usage there. That is properly a terrain to fit a halloween theme. I like the other two terrains so far as well (though Sheo's might've been better with an additional tree and a Hydralisk or two instead of an Ultralisk), but this one really fits the theme I had in my mind best.
Interesting. Since you focussed on that, I would try to give coments on that to get it the most perfectly possible.
I think, there is a bit too much of Bloom Threshold. The general color looks great. I would try to remove the light in the back of the wall.
I would have add maybe, some blood and possibly more gory corpse =P
I would have tryed to find a significantly well matching ground texture with the execution wall. Too add more details to the ground texture, you can make everything bigger and unzoom. So you see more of the ground, so it is more detailled, and the light (I think) will keep showing the white circle on the ground.
Guys! Someone by the name of XenoX101 (reedit) has created HotS with the editor! He has so far added in 4 popular maps and it's going up on EU once he gets rid of the bugs.
I tried to remake what you've done but with more blood. I couldn't get to what you made though. For some reasons, I couldn't modify the fog, what you probably used. Although, I got this picture which is similar. I though that bodies beeing envelopped must be envelopped by someone, so I added two marines. We could suppose here the answer of "Why are the armor of the marines, red?" hahaha. Your is really dark. After working in the remake, my mind changed and I think it's fine this way (except for the ligh behind the wall).
Hi everybody! Just found this forum, but I think It's the perfect place for me to hand around. I do consider myself somewhat of an terrain artist and though I might just as well try this thing out.
Result: well please judge and give me your feedback.
Edit: Change the picture to one where the zerglings were actually facing the marine.
The red armor itself isn't strange it's the fact that they have Raynor's Raiders emblem with it since red is the main dominion colour RR usually (?) wear blue ;)
Well on my behalf it's the amount of work vs. the results and partly 'cause i'm lazy. Collection of alot of WoW models in one map would be a great idea for all us lazy terrainers.
I very like how you made the eyes of the Zerlging glow in the fog. Very interesting... The ligthing also is kind interesting, there is a spot light somehow from the bottom left that we don't know what it is... There is alot of work with the trees and plants. Dark plants and the ones on the path are great. I very like the how you use the fog doodad instead of the fog from the Data. The texture from the fog here add something... scary. Also, you added some rain; what is more scary than seeing glowing eyes, the night, while its rainning?
Generally, it looks very nice. If I had to add something, I think I would change the fog from the data so the far far just become something white or grey and that we feel its a fog that starts from the position of view and not just some moving smoke or cloud. Also, I would play with camera setting to maybe add a field of view. Something very very small, just to force our eyes to focus on the marine and the Zerglings.
Ultimatly, the Zergling are really well made. You made them look more scary than ever. GJ

Zhakul'Das seems a good tile set for this theme.

Notice the trees underground that we just see the top xD Making some bush. The shadows of the trees (on the road for example), etc.
If I had to change something, I would change the textures on the ground.

Wow, i would have to agree to everything M-dawg had to say about it, that is nothing i would (or maybe could) ever do.
I think i'll try some camera, lighting kinda deal now...

Welcome, and a good start! The decolourisation you used makes this scene all the more spooky. Nice work!

Again, thanks for the head's up, but could you refrain from posting stuff like that in topics where it doesn't belong (like this WTE)?
Why don't I see any zombies or imported Undead WoW Models?

I'm making pictures to show all the doodads. Actually, it is something long to do so I ask sometimes to people; would you like to have a picture with all the doodads to easily search something interesting? here I have an example for the 2 first folders LOS and Environment. http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/map-development/6140-collection-of-all-doodads/#p6
