Hello all ! I'm making a HUGE custom map , based on the GTA gameplay ... I have the models , i have a lot of trigger ... now , i'm making the terrain !
I use the HotS editor , because i feel it's more complete and with more doodads ( <3 ) . I put the screenshots in this post ... if you want to give me feedbacks you're welcome ! ^^
One of the military base ... where you can steal vehicles and the THOR !
I dont know how to call it ... maybe the place where you start ?
A litte spaceport ! You can enter in the banshee and fly around the city !!
2 Sky Crapers and a little garden !
I didn't know what put in this .... the result is good i think !
A cinema and a road . ( There is a little bug with the doodads , i'll fix it soon )
The best part for now , i think ... a lot of buildings like a real city !
The spaceport needs a door/gate on the front with hatch doodad on the roof - wolf statue should be swap for wrait statue and centered.
Overall for the terrain, i think its decent but not great. Hots doodads are nice but should not be the focus of the map . Some of the things seem unnatural and given that i would guess this would be more like a hero style gameplay so there could be a bit more detail into things like sidewalks and just general making things believeable (ie why is there a stoplike at a corner but no intersection). One example would be to make a small walk-path up to the staired mensk statue with benchs and a little park. Colors are nice, vivid, and clear. Cliff need detailing too to better round things out.
Well i don't know if there anything in the hots assets but in wol there was the scrap elevator (doodad and terrain object). You'll have to make a trigger the moves the unit from the door to a point under the elevator and then send an actor message or a play animation to make it move (sort out the timing so i looks smooth).
very beautiful, I really like how the light/color-theme of the textures fit together :) The bush and tree doodads are fantastic and fits really well. Did you make them by yourself? Same thing with the buildings. Are they doodads or custom cliffs? Anyway, great job, hope it turns out into a full map at some point. I'm also a bit curious how you made those roads blend together. Its not the build in roads/pathing? Or have they upgraded their behaviour?

A doodad you whould think about adding is the ground based vent doodad. I cant remember which doodad group it belongs to, but it looks like a small round thing that slowly gives away smoke. Adding them and rescaling them a little gives a really nice effect!
Remember that you can rescale the sammu-signs and other decals, making them a bit smaller (75%) usually makes them look nicer. Also, adding clusters of many decals on a wall with different sizes makes a cool typically urban effect.

Hi. Congratulations your map is beautiful but where can i see it? Also, do you know where can i find those roads u used for your map and the streep lamps.

Hi ! Yea , i agree ! I want to create a little Elevator that allows you to "jump" in the Spaceport !
