Well, the hard part for the moment will be knowing what exactly is even possible to do/realistic to do. My maps need a lot of open space, but I want to squeeze as much detail into that space as possible. I do know I'll be making a lot of custom doodads at some point (using new models, that is), but that is a in the future kind of thing.
What hurts most right now is that I am, personally, awful beyond words in terraining. I had some wc3 experience but that's like over a half-decade old by now. And I was never quite accustomed to doodadspam. I always focused a lot on brush work. I figured if I needed complex objects I'd eventually just model them.
I don't have much that fits the context of the thread, but here's one semi-close example I guess.
It's part of a station, a Drydocks area. All of the ships have since left, but return through an event if you don't destroy a nearby command center in time. I'm not sure how to expand the detailing for it.
Um, that's cool. Let me know if I'm hired and I'll make more than what you need =) You can PM me as well to give me information and maybe the map you want me to work on.
Ok I just finish creating my video. Take a look I've posted it there http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/terrain/14658-terraining-exercises-global-information-idea-thread/?page=6#p114
