Another monday means a new WTE! This week our theme shall be "Fracture". What I'm looking for here is tight and small (but technically walkable/traversable) canyons. Think of something along the lines like the Moab, Utah canyon from the "127 Hours" film. Claustrophobic and crammed natural environments all the way!
I couldn't figure out if I wanted to make it a scar in the land that had destroyed a bunch a stuff, or a precarious shortcut, so I made it both. I wanted it to be darker, but then you wouldn't see the details unless I added more lights, but it didn't look right when I did, so I made it a little lighter.
Nice Alaron! And welcome too, I don't think I've seen you here before (have I?). I really like what you've done, and it's basically esactly what I envisioned. You make something like this playable and you've got a great terrain. It feels very Mass Effect-ish to me as well, and the only thing I think can be done better is the lighting. Overall great way to kick us off this week!
I like the ones that have been submitted thus far :) and btw what do you have going for those spectres there in the third picture? one looks like its holding a large machine gun and the other one looks like its doing a sort of Stetiman animation. Are my eyes fooling me or did you do something cool and special with them? if so please share how :) . or is it just a story model that I'm forgetting about?
It reminds me of a combination between random FPS games and that Half-Life 2 mission with the hovercraft. Really like the touch on those Missile Turrets. Overall great feeling - still feels like something to fit the theme 'fracture' even though the canyon itself is quite wide.
Hmm... interesting idea. I think I'll start a thread for Laser Shark terrains and we can all post there and MAYBE a moderator might be able to sticky the mess of lasery sharky goodness.

My first attempt at a WTE, took me about 20 minutes to whip up.

Ooh, another pretty one! Imagine that kind of terrain in a playable map! Is the guy from that first picture an imported model?
@Mozared: Go
Nope, hes a story mode character.

I did nothing special with them, they are just story mode characters :P
Hmm... quite a few nice submissions. I might need to do one. And no, I won't forget about the laser shark.

sweeeeeet
also, loving the fantastic submissions this early on! Top notch work people, keep it up!
I'm late, aren't I. I usually snatch the first post, but for this, oh no no no.
I just realised that all my curse accounts are on 118 posts (I have multiple curse accounts, btw)
Hurp

I dunno if anyone has played C&C: Renegade but the angle and layout really reminds me of that. I quite like it!
I HAVE C&C grenade, but I haven't played it.
What the hell, I wrote renegade, not grenade

Hey neb, let's (You, mad, and me) make an awesome map of las0r shark. With las0r sharks hidden everywhere?
I have to resubmit mine, I forgot the shark
@ScrinKing: Go
I'll make mine this evening :P

Here's my as of yet sharkless and relatively simple jungle canyon.
