Continuing our exploration of the LotV tilesets, up this week is "Cybros", meaning the theme for the exercise is to create any sort of terrain using the Cybros tileset. I've got two more of these coming up before I feel like we've done through the bulk of the new styles and we'll tap into something more specific again. Hopefully you folks are able to get your interesting cyborg robot looks on this week.
You can find an album with all tilesets here, courtesy of greythepirate who put it up in the general forums.
It's amazing how the more expansions we get, the more surreal our terrains become. That barely even looks like it was built in the SC2 engine, could've been the next C&C for all I know.
Yeah, BTW, one thing I didn't notice is that the SCII epilogue ending, in a constructive view, does look a lot like what we wished out of Tiberium C&C (Before Tiberium Twilight, I mean), doesn't it? Suddenly the human military (Terran/GDI) starting to see some of the religious bull is real, it's carried out, there's an epic-scale battle and so much this military as the said 'religious zealots' (Protoss/Nod) starting to understand a bit and try to cope with the new times.
Of course, there's always a said 'big evil' (Amon/Scrin), but it shouldn't mean we had to drag on to it forever, and just because some stuff might sound stupid or pulled out of religious reference, doesn't mean that it ain't smart. In a way, you can tell that, since some of Blizzard employees worked with C&C in the past (i.e. Browder), you can tell they kind of unwittingly did the ending C&C felt it should have, and not that, in honest words, corporate middle-finger rehash.
Well said. I always hated that the game supposedly meant to be the ending for the Tiberian franchise wasn't even originally a C&C game, they just slapped the name on and did some weird campaign. It's the only C&C game I was never able to bring myself to finish... I didn't get past the first mission to be honest.
Hello, my name is AlexTheComie. I have a great suggestion that you have most likely not made as your weekly terraining exorcise theme.
I recommend the next theme to be a crashed space ship site, such as a long abandoned battle cruiser that has been overgrown with vines and plants.
Another theme suggestion can be colonies. Such as a colony similar to the one found on haven in the campaign Star craft 2 Wings Of Liberty, however must include legacy of the void features.
First off: while I welcome all WTE ideas, I generally prefer if people post them in the global WTE thread so they're easier for me to find back. That said: I don't think we've had a crash site WTE before, that's a pretty nice idea - will introduce that in a week or two. We've done a number of colony-like variations, but I don't think we've ever had something as simple as "a colony" on any tileset the creator pleases. That could be good too.
Thanks again, you've saved me some time in the weeks to come. And welcome to Mapster :)
Be sure to check out the extension mod: Hots Custom Map support on NA and EU, Despite the name it greatly expands the roster of options for the default 3 races and is updated all the way to NCO.
A lack of time on my part and a lack of contributions. You're the only one who actually sent in anything helpful. Maybe I'll get around to working something better out at some point.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #225
Hello again folks!

As always, good luck & have fun!

I'm sorry to be late, but i really really wanted to try making the glorious Aiur terrain... So here is a WIP.
Stopping for now. It's around 3 hours or so of work. It is mostly LotV doodads.
