Hmm I did wonder if there's a few too many Zerg fliers... it looks a bit cluttered I agree, though they're meant to be quite a bit aways still. The idea IS that they are approaching, not that the battle has been joined.
Also the idea is that the Terrans are launching an incursion against a Zerg occupied world, so the Zerg are actually coming UP from the planet to intercept the landing forces, not down from space. Guess I need to work on their placement some more to get this across, perhaps having them more densely packed lower down and thinning out as it goes up, like you've got the vanguard reaching combat altitude while the others are still rising. I think I might remove the Leviathans again... doesn't mesh with that theme.
Sadly when I tried playing with the fog distances to give more a sense of the distances involved I could either have the ships fogged to varying degrees but with the buildings invariably ending up just being solid blocks of colour, or the buildings visible and fogged but the ships not fogged at all :-/
Edit: Hmm looking at it, I don't think I really need both the battlecruisers to the center right. It makes things a bit too cluttered at the moment and packed.
You might consider making the fliers into doodads so you can have more freedom with them. It seems odd that all of the Hercules and wraiths are flying parallel to each other.
They actually ARE all doodads :3. The only things in the picture that are units are the Story Mode characters and the Zerg Leviathans hehe.
The fliers further away have also been scaled down to try and suggest increased depth. But yeah, I guess I could vary their heights a bit, even if they are flying in formation.
I feel like something is missing... but I'm not quite sure what. I feel also that your point of view is not the best to get the whole thing. As a last thing like you said, lighting could probably be optimised a little. Is the interior too dark and the exterior to bright? Are the battlecruiser too small compared to the buildings? Are the Zerg too small in the picture? You have to focus and look a little bit more to find them...while somehow it's there...the stress, imminent attack incoming...
What kind of feeling do you want the people to have when they look at your terrain? Is it just a battle through a blue sky and some skyscrapper? or you want to feel the power, the Zerg in the far fog, etc. What adds the fog doodad; is that dust from destroyed buildings?
Your terrain is really great, but idk, need a little tweak somewhere... And all those question are just ideas in the air to ask yourself could something be better? It's not something that you must absolutly change, if you think for example that the size of the battlecruiser and building are ok, it's cool. But I proposed this question because I just had a little feeling that it could be too big or too small...
Anyway, I hope this will make you think a little and possibly do some changes that will make your terrain even more awesome ;)
Well this is meant to be Terrans coming through the upper atmosphere in a mass landing over a cloud scraper city (hence the size of the buildings compared to the Battlecruisers, even in the distance) the clouds over the city are actually the creep spore clouds and the reason the Zerg are tiny is because they're very far away - that's one reason I tried to add swarms of them. I have considered putting some Zerg buildings (as doodads) on top of the city buildings to make the scale even clearer. The Zerg are rising up from the city to intercept the Terrans. Battle has not yet been joined.
As for viewpoint and lighting, well the viewpoint is somewhat limited as for the whole concept to work it's supposed to be a view from the bridge, that's the whole point of my entry.
I've got about half a dozen different camera angles in my map file and these are the best while still seeing that it is on the bridge.
As for lighting, as I have said I intend to tweak it a bit but the lighting from the bridge model seems to take over a lot, probably causing the interior to seem darker that you see - it's actually the lighting from the bridge model :-/
And keep in mind I've been doing all this while having a throat infection that makes me feel like hell.
Edit: I think I might tweak the heights of the ships again... while they might have been on one plane before, it now almost seems like they're just a random bunch of ships not flying in any semblance of formation ><

This makes me think of Avatar... version starcraft. Haha. The Human-Terran vs the Na'vi-Zerg

Lol. Infested Terrans on mutas jumping onto banshees, and battlecruisers deploying goliaths. That would be cool.

I was going a bit for that floating mountain feel.

LOL. That would really really funny!

Some updates, still need to experiment with lighting a bit.

Had to take the screenies inside the editor 'cause the siteops weren't rotating properly in-game for whatever reason.
Oh, and the Valkyrie model's from the SC2BW campaigns mod of course.

My hat goes off for that, sir. One of the most original WTE submissions I've seen.
