So, races can't be dynamically changed? What a shame. I've got a good ZvT map concept (similar to "Zerg hunters" in some ways), but with one problem: the number of zergs must be equal or at least close to the number of terrans, or the balance goes screwed up. Letting people choose races freely will definitely make most of games a waste of time cuz of horrible balancing and making one race for everyone (one UI and all those things i mean) will look horrible (yet people seem to be choosing this way). Are there really no other options?
Although it seems that particular method causes the dynamic UI to look slightly different than the regular UI. Looks like some HDR values are different or something, not sure if anyone found a solution to that or not.
>> Are you wanting to change the race of the UI?
Optionally - not only UI, but also notifications and other stuff. When you're building a turret as a terran and get a "mutation complete" notification... hell.
Will look through the tutorial, thx, but that method looks really weird to me.
P.S.: checked the mod out. It doesn't even change the buttons T_T Is that really all we can do?
P.P.S.: tried to change cursor via triggers, getting an "access denied" error 0_o
It is possible to change the buttons using dialog item hookups or dialog items from templates.
Not sure if changing the cursor is possible. But you could force all player's race to neutral at start to keep the cursor consistent if you wanted.
BTW are you wanting to randomize the races in game or something but with certain requirements? Or could you use variant/s to accomplish your objective? E.g. every odd player is zerg, every even is terran in a variant. Or must the races be changeable in-game?

I ofc can make races freely selectable in lobby, but then i guess too many matches will be ruined by idiots or trolls who all select the same race. There must be a system to maintain balance (by triggers, which means that races must be changeable in-game), and variants don't seem to do what i need.

You can create units of any race for any player. Are you wanting to change the race of the UI?
There's a topic on that here:

I believe he just wants the ability to select race in game.
There are already tutorials out there for creating race selection dialogs.
