The problem I'm facing is a few of the areas need to be extended dramatically, and If at all possible I don't want to be bothered with having to completely redo the entire High yield and large bridge area. Is there a way like in SC1 editors for me to select the part of the map I don't want to have to redo and drag it away or copy it so put back in later?
You can pull away doodads / units (just draw a selection rectangle over them and either copy/paste or move them).
But there's no way to move terrain as far as I know.
If you haven't figured this out by now already, you actually CAN drag select a portion of terrain and copy + paste it and, as s3rius said, the same for doodads / units. If you're having problems with alignment (getting the doodads and units to exactly the right spot with respect to the terrain), then put down a doodad or unit with a snap-to-grid placement, which will force all of the other doodads to align relative to IT and which will in turn be relatively easy to align with respect to the terrain.
Well, I do believe you can increase the map size under Map > Map Bounds. Then check Modify Map Bounds and away you go. I haven't tested if you can start with a tiny map and turn it into a big map yet, but that might work for you.
For once I can be helpful (not really since Hegen said it first) but yeah, you CAN copy terrain. I'm not sure if it has to be blank, or if it can have doodads and stuff on it. But in my map I had a section I needed to repeat, I just dragged a box over it, copied it, and pasted it. In the pasting phase you can move it around. Unfortunately the terrain doesn't show up until after you placed it, so it'll be hard to line it up just right.
