Im working on a map where you pick a hero and then battle with it. The hero system resembles wc3. I already made the hero system so now I need to work on the actual gameplay. I was thinking about a team based game where you control just your hero OR your hero and a small number of units that are automatically generated from key structures that can be destroyed by the enemy. I dont really want it to be like DoTA, since thats been done so many times. So what I'm looking for are some ideas for a team based hero fighting map. Your username will be in the credits if I use your idea!

Im thinking maybe there could be several capture able points that provide things like units, minerals, or healing for your team. This should spice up the battle more because players can go for several different points. Ideas to add, anybody?

just take what you liked about any of the battlegrounds from WoW, DotA, and any other game, using variations of spells/ abilities you liked from everything, combine into a separate game, and hopefully inject whatever originality you can at that point and have fun. i suggest you leave out the oblivious overly sized nukes and incesant spamming of psionic storm abilities, and you may just wind up with somethng fun. Well I never played any good wc3 custom map other than DoTa once and castle fight once, and I dont own World of Warcraft. I did look at the Wow website for info on the battle grounds, but I still and not sure of what exactly to do. Maybe a one sided capture the flag kind of thing with minions spawning from the attacking team , but not the defending team....Anyway feel free to add more ideas!
Each named area that isnt a base is a control point. Kill all enemies around it to gain control and bonuses like vehicles. Use siege vehicles to take down the walls of the opposing base and proceed to storm in and kill the enemy general.
Take down enemy fortifications on the way to their main base to kill their general. NPCs can be found to aid you, and if you escort them back to base they will provide things like air raids or taking from the bodies of the dead to summon a giant living tree/rock to kill things.
Now that i think about it, an AV game would rock.. might do that.

(Not sharing them here because I don't know exactly what you want so I'd either have to guess or type up at least twenty pages worth of concepts - after locating them all, that is.)
Hmm.. So each team could have a fort kind of thing, and there could be some key points that spawn units for whoever controls them. Maybe And maybe some capture able forts in the middle of the path that lets you spawn there instead of your base. Thats probably a good idea! Feel free to keep adding more ideas, I'm very non-creative!

I made a few control points on my map but Im not sure If I like the way I set it up. There 2 kinds of points I made so far.
1) Supply Canisters give +100 minerals per 30 sec to the team who owns them
2) Outposts. Whichever team controls them can teleport to it from their main base.
Anyway I think I will work on the hero development more than the actually game play because I have changed my mind like 3 times and re-done the map. Keep on posting Ideas, I really appreciate it!

I started a map back when we first got the editor which pertains to your exact idea. Due to my team splitting up the project was half finished. I would hate to see it not be utilized ever though. I will tell you the concept and if you decide to use any ideas please give friendly acknowledgment to myself when you publish the map.
-two teams
-5 players each team
- two lanes that connect each team together
-monsters auto generate from base and attack targeting opposite team following the lanes
-8 total capturable regions. 3 capturable regions on each lane. The one closest to a team was the tier 1 capture spot in which, once captured, would produce extra units to spawn from that teams base. The regions in the center of each lane (equal distant between both bases) was the tier 2 region which, once captured, would produce even more (stronger) units from that teams base. Tier 3 was the region closest to the enemies base (the opposing teams tier 1 region=the teams tier 3) which was the hardest region to capture and if captured would produce even greater units. In addition, tier 1 produced 5minerals every 10 seconds, tier 2 produced 7 minerals every 10 seconds and tier 3 produced 9 minerals every 10 seconds.
-two regions which produced +1 gas were located on the very left and ride sides of the map in the middle (equal distant from bases) gas needed for some special upgrades etc...
-Also, had created a hero which I felt had an awesome dynamic compared to most hero designs. It was called the Beserker and would generate energy by attacking and if passive would degenerate energy (sort of like a combo system) so the longer you attacked the more powerful abilities you could use.
If you are interested in using any ideas or want to see the map for triggering or hero purposes send me a PM. If you decide to use anything I would only want some type of acknowledgment when published.
-items, shops, inventory, heroes gaining levels and attribute point distribution.

I gave credit to the name Etravex, is that Ok? Or would you prefer another name, real name, etc? I already made items shops inventory heroes w/ levels and abilities you level, so Im ok with the programing and triggering. I just have to make more heroes and the actual gameplay. Is it ok if I modify the idea in small ways, like (for example) more capturable buildings and things?

Isle of Conquest with a bunch of unique heros would be cool. Something with a few ways to win would set it apart from DotA.
