How can I increase the range of this attack? I tried increasing the range for the weapon, but the actual effect and damage doesn't show up if you're not close enough.
Also, is it possible to increase a weapon's range through triggers (upgrading)?
I don't know about with triggers but when I looked at the Helion attack it appeared that what it does is creates a number of small damage circles in a line using periodic offsets, to increase the range you would want to add more of those and increase the amount of periods, probably.
These things are found in the Hellion - Battle Cannon (Persistant) effect. I havent actually tried working with it but check it out, should be along the right lines.
ok go directly to the hellion attack beam model and change the fields scale minimum and scale maximum in the y direction a bit bigger. That should fix it.
I finally figured out how to do this. Only took like 2 hours of messing around with actors. If anyone is still wondering about how to do this, post here and ill go thru the steps.
I'm actually trying to increase the range of the Firebat attack and can't seem to increase the visual effect range. If you wouldn't mind posting about this (I realize this is three months later) I'd much appreciate it.
Offsets essentially "move" an area effect (in this case the attack search) over time. The first coordinate controls movement in the perpendicular direction to where the unit's facing, and the second coordinate controls the parallel backwards direction that the unit is facing (which is why these are negative). To make the attack longer, simply add more values at the end. For example, (0,-6.75)|(0,-7). . . etc
To make it wider, increase the radius of the attack search.
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. Managed to get the visual to go out the distance I wanted, now I just need to figure out if I can make the attack animation a single stream instead of two side-by-side.

You are right on about the Periodic Offsets. However, the animations did not show up at that range. How can I fix that?
try scaling the hellion beam actor
That did not work. :(

The attack is controlled by offsets. Look at Hellion - Infernal Flame Thrower (create persistent).
Periodic Offsets ((0,-0.25)|(0,-0.5)|(0,-0.75)|(0,-1)|(0,-1.25)|(0,-1.5)|(0,-1.75)|(0,-2)|(0,-2.25)|(0,-2.5)|(0,-2.75)|(0,-3)|(0,-3.25)|(0,-3.5)|(0,-3.75)|(0,-4)|(0,-4.25)|(0,-4.5)|(0,-4.75)|(0,-5)|(0,-5.25)|(0,-5.5)|(0,-5.75)|(0,-6)|(0,-6.5))

I mentioned this in the other topic which was linked

You get it working the way you wanted? I just found this thread again after posting in it like 3 months ago, lol.
