Lets say the mineral and gas never ran out and you could mine forever.
A zergling take 24 secounds to train so we are gonna ceep this as a reference to the fastest possible time to train a unit.
How much would you pay for an ultralisk to train at 24 seconds instead of 70?
How much would you pay for an carrier to train at 24 seconds instead of 120?
How much would you pay or an battlecruiser to train at 24 seconds instead of 90?
There has to be some multiplier value that we can base it on.
How much is for example 24 seconds worth when removed from a unit training time? x2 the cost? x1.5?
I need to have this figured out to be able to balance my map in a good way
I don't think it's possible to balance just by raising the unit cost. On another thought - if you decrease all building times, races will be pretty balanced I guess.
You should ask the question in off topic. You will get MANY answers to "how much is time worth". Personally, I say a lot because you can't get it back.
Its more about what the time i remove from the production is worth in recourses. If i remove 24 secounds then the unit should cos X times more, and i'm thinking about 20% more for every 24 sec i remove. Or to make it easy for every second i remove i increase the cost with 1 %
Ultra = 70-24 = 46 = 46% more expencive.
Marine 25-24 = 1 = 1% more expencive
Carrier 120-24 = 96 = 96% more expencive and so on
What about how much time it takes to gather the resources in the first place? If you cut training time but up the resources, it will still take more time because of increased gathering.

Bust open the spread sheet and crunch some numbers. Get a mathematical formula going, best way for balance.

I have 1 building that will be able to instant train each unit the problems come to balancing with cost.
The only unit that will have it original value is zergling because they are the fastest training time.
Ultralisk take 70 seconds to train and cost 300 / 200, thats 2.91 longer trainingtime. However making it cost 2.91 times more sounds allot.
Mabye around x1,2 to take away 24 secounds.
Ultra cost would then be 475 / 315

if the ultralisk should be balanced against the lings, let them figth against each other to make him cost x lings
if it is ten times strong, it should cost ten times a ling
Wasn't there some video of an Ultralisk killing 800 zerglings? 20,000 crystal, rofl.

Time is money :)
Time is the only thing you can never get back. It is however different for different people. So 10 mins for me could be 10 seconds for you. :)
So infinite.

We are talking about the game and not real life. I want to convert training time to recourses in the game.
I don't think the topic is meant to go philosophical, he's basically asking how to balance the cost of time/cash for units.
Somewhat more than the training facilities that would be needed to achieve the same increase in production.
