Since it warns me every thirty seconds and therefore changes the current active window automatically, it is very annoying. I do not know what I did the other day to make this problem appear, or maybe it occurred after the release of patch 1.2... I really do not know.
The only thing I want to know is: How can I calm the Messages window and solve the problem.
It's an internal error with Blizzards own files, and I don't think reinstalling would help as I've tried that (wasn't for this issue though, but it was a reinstall nonetheless) and it didn't do anything.
Reinstalling is not going to help indeed. But hey I found the solution a while back. I hope it will work for you guys as well.
What you would want to do, is to go to the file->preferences and reset everything to default (that's what I think is required at least). Press ok, and restart the editor.
I could imagine that deleting the sc2 editor key table in the registry to work as well.
I can confirm that reseting everything to default does not fix the problem.
By the way, this "Warning: Missing string: " message pops up even where is no map open at all. As long as the terrain window is open, it will appear every 30 seconds precisely.
For anyone still having this problem, this post I pulled from the B.net forums tells you how to fix it;
I posted this on another forum but if you have your video settings in the game set to Custom and have the Editor using the game's settings, it'll freak out in the "Show Render Statistics" panel and show up a "Missing String" in the 3rd panel over for Video Settings. Either reset your in-game video settings to Extreme and disable "Use Game Settings" for Video Preferences, then re-enable it after pressing ok, or just disable using game settings and set it manually to Ultra+ in the editor.
Edit:
Sorry, run ons.
Easiest fix:
1. Go to File > Preferences > Video
2. Disable "Match Game Settings"
3. Set the "Overall Quality" to anything not "Custom." I have mine on "Ultra+."
Slightly less easy fix:
1. Set in-game video quality to anything non-Custom. I have it on Extreme.
2. Disable "Match Game Settings" in the editor and press 'OK.'
3. Re-enable "Match Game Settings."
Hi guys, I am being barraged by this problem lately: The Messages Window pops up and gives out the Warning - Missing String:

I have this problem too.
Same problem here.
Closing the terrain window prevents the messages from popping up, while you work on data or code.

Well, that eases the damage to my patience.
Yet, It would be nice if there was a proper solution, as more people seem to suffer from that bug (?).
@Anarcy: Go
if you create a new map do you still have this problem?
if so you could try umm... re-installing....
Try making a new map with a different dependency. If that doesn't work, use soulcarverr's method.
Any fixes on this yet?

Okay, I could suggest one more thing. As it may be solved by doing several things but in the right order.
Not sure what to do first, but you could try:
I could have sworn that somehow that is how I fixed my own problem :|
I had this issue, so I know, it should be some of those things to fix it. (I did not even reinstall, but as you confirmed that didn't work anyway).
Edit Seems like someone managed it to work too. Maybe this was something I did, but don't remember. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1869219737#19
Thanks Mexaprone!
Resetting the video settings as suggested on the bnet forums worked. That information is stored in the registry, not in any configuration file.
