I'm not near a computer with the editor right now. But I think all you have to do is assign the High Templar a weapon, and give it the attack ability. Note that you'll have to mess a little with animations if you want it to look right too, as I don't think the High Templar has an attack animation. I could be wrong though

I haven't found a tutorial that is similar to this because this unit has naturally no attack. Any ideas?

There is a unit called Hierarchy, which is a hero based on high templar. It has a normal attack.

Is that your map can you tell me what you did after adding the ability and command card?
Make sure you give it a weapon.

I did. The unit attacks. I want to have the HT do a casting animation when he attacks, how can I do that?

Why not make an autocast spell and link it with the attack command? Having the ability not show up in the command card will also further it.
I think abilities and attacks are roughly the same. Consider checking the Charge ability for reference.
Whatever you do, wholeheartedly, moment by heartfelt moment, becomes a tool for the expression of your very soul.
Look at units that have attack animations in their "Events+" field within their actor. Then create the appropriate animation for it. :)
