as you know your map gets a version number by blizzard which is generated automatically if publish your map.
in my opinion it sucks hard - is there any possibility to remove that generated number?
im asking because i saw some maps which a custom one - where it only said "Map Name v0.01" or something like that.
How about you let blizzards system handle the Version number.... and leave it at that..... Its actually quite nice because you dont really wanna make a change to the version info for every little change you make but you would when uploading your map .... and blizz handles this for you
There is no way to remove it. Since its internal to blizzards map publishing system

Because Blizzard made 2 huge errors ( in addition to the MANY other Bnet errors ) ...
1.1 : They set minor update as an increment of 0.1 ... that is a MAJOR change. A MINOR is 0.01
1.2 : They say major update as increment of 1.0 ... THAT IS NOT AN UPDATE!!! THAT IS A COMPLETE NEW VERSION!!!
GAWD, Blizzard has done SO many mistakes this time.
The only way to change it is to change the name of you map in Map Info.
The way it is now is like saying StarCraft 2.0 is a major update from StarCraft 1.0 ... but not a new version. Nono, it's the exact same game, just updated a lot.
Blizzard fails at themselves.
well in wc3 for example i made several maps.
one of them was a far advanced ltw map which ended up now in v1.62.
but i increased the version index since v1.00 every time by exactly 0.01 even with greater updates - because i knew that i will update the map often.
with the blizzard system this would be v16.2 which looks pretty shit to me ...
and if i would have followed the blizzard rules it would be v95.4 because there were really many "huge" updates ...
all in all i would call that an epic fail. >.<

edit: ah another thing is, that the dump generated version number of blizzard never update in my case.
it is always v0.1 (or v1.0) because i have different map files on my computer for the same map against data loss ...

umm to me any change to the number whether or not its in the 1.0 or 0.1 or 0.01 is a different version...... thats why its called version numbering...
and seriously how does this have any effect on you or the people playing your map?
Star Craft II is not Star Craft 1 v2.0 if you think thats the case, then you are mentally retarded
I changed a camera distance by 5 and a doodad placmeent, so it only makes sense that my map should be v1.3 instead of 1.1. It's a serious overhaul...

It's not a big deal IMO, just learn to live with it and only use the minor increment for most things.
