So I've been mucking around getting to learn the Editor and making an extension mod. I have run into a couple of difficulties however, namely:
I have increased the model size for the Roach by about 1.5, however when it morphs into a Ravager, the Ravager is huge. I've tried decreasing the size of the Ravager to compensate but it hasn't changed. Anyone know how I can fix this?
Apart from this I am trying to let the Ravager Morph back into a Roach... when I look at the Zerglings command card it has the button to morph to Baneling there, but Roaches and Hydralisks do not... (yet in game they do) I'm trying to edit this but having difficulty finding it.
Could someone please help a beginner out?
Thanks in advance.
That is the wrong way to do it, because it affects related actors. Instead of changing those values in the actor data, try changing the model data. This way it will not affect the Ravager.
Thanks for the help Laiev, but I just tried this and it didn't work. I put both the scale minimum and maximum to 2 but the model size is the same as a regular roach. :(
Is it possible that it's because it's an extension mod and so I am building the Roach through a conventional means rather than placing it on the map through the editor?
No, that shouldn't be the problem, because if you change the model of an unit, no matter how that unit comes to the map, it will use the model size, maybe referring to old Roach or something like that. I attached a map to you see and compare with yours.
You can also morph the Roach to Ravager to test and the scale of Ravager didn't change at all.
It's so strange that it's not working for me... would you like me to share my project? I've screenshotted below what I did.
edit: I dont know why I just clicked to this, but is it because of the glowing spikes on the Roach...ie is this a different model? I removed the requirement to research burrow move for Roaches.

I think it is a different model maybe.
Also burrow is a morph ability, you need to morph back to the edited Roach, otherwise it will morph back to default Roach, but unsure if it stay with the previous size.
No worries, here's the mod. Named Obamacare cause it was the only thing that came to mind at the time hahah. I really appreciate the help man. I'm surprised I've managed to get as far as I have without help.
Just for context sake, what I'm trying to achieve here is:
The Roach and Hydralisk position in the tech tree is switched
Roaches and Ravagers can morph back and forth in a similar way to Hellions/Hellbats (ie for free)
Roaches get burrow move for free.
I've made little changes here or there, the idea isn't to be balanced, more for fun and so I can get used to the editor
If you remove the upgrade model change and set the standard unit model to be the upgraded Roach, then it should use that model's scale and never the original one. Undo the actor scale changes if you haven't already. Extension mods do have some perks, but in this case Blizzard's balance data would have to change the same fields you do to cause this issue, and I doubt that is the case.
Okay, so ultimately I've ended up fixing it. I discovered that if I go under models there is a "Roach Upgrade" model. I managed to remove the Requirement/Validator so that the Roach uses the normal model. Trying to recreate the model switching on a different upgrade...
It looks like have managed to successfully give the Ravager an ability to morph into a Roach.. However the "Roach" still uses the Ravagers model after morphing and it doesn't morph into an egg during the morph sequence. Also it doesn't have the Roaches ability to morph into a Ravager. I find it odd that if I look at the Command Card buttons, the evolve to lurker/evolve to Roach is not there like the game adds it dynamically. Does anyone know why it is done this way? It seems the zergling/baneling evolution is not done this way..

Dependencies. You set it as an extension mod so multiplayer data will always be used, but you didn't add it correctly in the dependencies list, so you can't see those buttons.

How did you change the Roach size?
You're probably using the wrong dependencies. Can you tell me what they are?
Hi SoulFilcher, I changed the Art Scale as shown here

Thanks. Do you have a tutorial or something you can link me to on how to do this? I actually haven't the faintest idea.
Follow the order and you're done.

You're doing something different or editing the wrong model, look at this:
Base and with scale 2 (Artanis to comparison)

Is up to you, if you want, you can pm me with the map or post free on here.

hmmm so I tried again: Selected Extension Mod → Legacy of the Void → select Roach/Hydralisk and it's still missing... what should I be doing instead?
@l3monsta: Go Open the dependency list. File -> Dependencies. Add Void Multi (Mod) and remove Void (Mod).
@SoulFilcher: Go
Thank you good sir! It worked.
