The search function doesn't work very well.. So sorry in advance if this has been answered.
Anyway, I've read that the char limit for strings is a couple hundred thousand. However in my map when I try something like this
gv_story.lv_string="(insert 2045 random chars here)";
If I add anymore than 2045 chars it has a compiler error when I save or test... Am I doing this wrong? Because from what I understand strings can hold many many more chars.
If you are doing something like descriptions or something human readable you should get better results using User Types in Data Module.
At least you will not pointlessly flood script (which in the end may bring you faster to script limits)

That's the maximum length of string literals allowed by Galaxy.
You can always get past this limit by concatenating multiple strings.
someString = "[2045 chars]" + "[2045 chars]" + "[2045 chars]";
