The issue appears to be that no terrain mesh is generated. Without the mesh it is impossible to edit the terrain as there is nothing to target with the terrain tool and nothing to see the results of the terrain change with. Even the grid will not show up as that uses terrain mesh for distortion,
I need to investigate more carefully what the cause is as far as the game files go. In Windows 8 it might be caused by a security exception when writing (no write permission) when it tries to write the terrain mesh temporary file. Try running the editor as an administrator or saving the map in a directory outside of your C drive (or at least not in Program Files if you have no other drives).
So still same problem, now i tested to modify the heights from 8 to 0, now it looks like this...any ideas?
Thanks for the tip, I tried to do both, did run as admin and save a new map to Another Place, but still same problem.. But its not until I save the map the "bug" shows it self :/
So perhaps you are on to something, the Writing of the file..
hm, you could be right, at a closer look, it seems that all my maps are protected from Changes... I tried to uncheck the box, but it still there when I look again on the map. ..damn windows...
I've had the terrain go dark on me when I've selected the style of map (Melee, Arcade, Custom...?) when you first "Create a New Map." I just do campaign stuff so I can't remember which one gave me the headache. Maybe it was Arcade?? Good Luck!
So folks, at last I tried to re-install windows 8.1, and now it would seem that Everything works fine with the editor.....so perhaps the version of windows 8.1 I had was corrupt all along.
Thanks everyone who tried to help me!
Best regards
Benny
