I am using a Zerg unit model from this forum and I am trying to give it burrow. Since it does not have any animations for it, my work around is to have an ability that applies a buff to it. The buff lowers the height of the unit so it seems like it is under ground and only parts of its head is above.
BUT! - The Height field in buffs can not be set below 0! And when I go to the Event field in the units actor, I am able to use "Set Height" to below 0. But as soon as the unit moves while "burrowed", the height in the actor is back to normal!
Any ideas how to make a unit appear to be underground?
I usually have an invisible Marine model as my Unit actor that uses SOps to be facing upside down and attach my unit visual as a Model type actor onto the overhead attachment point so that as I scale the marine I can push the model as needed.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems like ground units do not lower themselves into the ground when I give the Modify Unit - effect a negative value. If I give it a positive value they will "fly" up in the sky, but never below the earth :(

Aaahh.. Smart :)
I made a test map based on your description Doctor, in case anyone finds this thread in the future, or if anyone has ideas how to make it look better.
I use a Zerg unit that does not have any burrow animations, but I added a work around so it now can burrow and move while burrowed.
Any ideas how to improve the burrow model & animations so it looks better?
I upload the map as a WeTransfer link: https://wetransfer.com/downloads/cda9d075bafed76a156375a95cf3def320180724182054/b9eb7e
Edit: I miss the old days when maps could be attached directly in posts, without having to rely on links that expire after a while : /
What about Modify Unit - Effect?

When you set the unit under the ground, set the height, for example -1.0
when the device is excavated - +1.0
You can include in the algorithm the "beginning" and "end" of the action, for example
