I'm relatively new to mapmaking (well, I have been making maps for myself since wc3, but nothing published or anything) and I've been wanting to step it up a notch. SO, that being said, I'm struggling with quite a few things, but most importantly: Making a unit 'unblockable'.
Here's the scenario:
I want to create a convoy moving from point A to point B within a region, starting when a research-type ability is completed (any better suggestions?). This convoy consists of one (or more) cargo truck unit(s), and what I'm struggling with is making the cargo truck unit(s) unblockable. What I'm looking to achieve is something like the trains we see in the campaign/coop missions, where any unit in its path are forced away.
Thanks in advance for any help!
UPDATE #1: Increasing Movement: Push Priority and Movement: Allied Push Priority attributes made it functional, but it still looks hacky (truck wiggling through the units). Next step is to make it more like the trains from the coop mission Parts & Parcel!
UPDATE #2: Changing the units 'Mover' to 'Fly' seems to have improved the whole process by quite a bit. Still not perfect, but it works better and better!
(Will keep updating this thread as improvements are made, just in case anyone else out there need help in improving their convoy system or anything similar! Tips / methods are still very much welcomed!)
Oh yes, I forgot to mention it: I've tried the Unstoppable flag, it doesn't seem to do anything. But thank you, good idea nonetheless!
I have a choke point that the truck needs to pass. For debugging purposes I created a wall of standard marines blocking this path, and they do block it. The truck just moves up and down in front of the marines, unable to pass.
And yes, currently the convoy spawns and starts from one of two events in a trigger:
1. A player types "-convoy" in the chat. (Again, debugging purposes)
2. A research type ability is used from a placeholder engineering bay > the trigger picks up the 'complete' stage from the ability > Convoy trigger chain starts. (Functionally just fine, but it feels a bit hack-ish to me)
EDIT: My bad! Yes, I am using an upgrade added to the engineering bay reasearch ability.
EDIT: Changed both values to 99, which functionally speaking seems to have resolved the issue! It now works, to some degree. Unlike the trains in aforementioned examples, the cargo truck will wiggle its way through the unit wall. It looks very hacky, but it works! Next step is to make it more train-like, making the cargo trucks seemingly unaffected by the marine wall. Thank you, DrSuperEvil!

So you plan on using an upgrade to get the triggers to start your convoy?
Try the Unstoppable flag under the Unit: Flags field of the Units data type.
