Under the Unit actor is the Actor: Portrait Actor field. This links to a Portrait type actor. Make a custom Portrait type actor and adjust the events so that it plays the animation when you use the ability. Make sure the model used for the portrait has the correct animation.

If adding the event directly to the portrait actor does not work then set the portrait up to use Signal events and your Unit actor to send the signal to the ::PortraitGameSelf system reference. Else do like Vikings and send the event action directly to that reference.
Hello,
I am looking for a way to play an animation for the portrait of an unit when it uses an ability.
Any ideas how to do that ?
I have found the actor of the banshee doing this. Should be OK.

Yes, thanks to confirm, it is what I am trying to do ^^
Hm wait no. I was trying the banshee way which is in the unit actor...
How can I detect in a portrait actor that the unit starts casting an ability ?

Thanks for helping, but for efficacity reason, I am gone the fast
foodway, using a hidden dummy unit which uses the same portrait.(as I had even never done a portrait actor, and it doesn't seem to work with default parameters... just a waste of time)
Well it is the ugly way to do it I know, but it works and I did it very quickly =)
Sounds inefficient.

For the time needed to do it, it was very efficient ^^
