I'd have a look at how the Merc Compound and Barracks Orbital Strike upgrade do it in the Liberty campaign dependencies.
A precursor is created and a delay is made before the actual creation of the trained unit. The drop pod model itself comes from an actor created as a result of the train effect.
You will notice nova uses a warp train so the units are created at the target and have a behaviour applied when warping in. This is used to apply the behaviour used by the mercs to drop in. The individual Unit actors for each unit then have an event for when the behaviour is on it creates the Model type actor for the visuals.
I did a thing where I had the SCV call down units with a drop pod (I think it was in the unit files something to do with Barracks) I don't have the map on my lap top but I'll try to tell you guys what I did when I get to it.

I'm trying to make a unit (let's say a marine) trained somewhere to arrive from Drop Pod.
how would that work?

Drop pod at the destination like nova's goons do in co-op?
