Its the "Distance - Shadow Clip" in the camera settings that you probably have to set to something bigger. You could set it to like 16000 and all shadows no matter how far you look will be shown. (Or should be..) Note however that if you make a playable game and it's a cinematic that zoom out really far, it could get intensive for low end computers if there is many shadows to make plus the units / doodads, etc.
Be aware that shadows are sampled at a finite resolution that is not associated with the display resolution or distance. It is possible for very distant shadows to appear quite buggy as a result, hence why there is a clip distance.
The shadows all show up fine so long as the camera target is at default cliff level or 1 cliff level up, but if it goes onto the 2nd cliff level some of my units lose their shadows. What is weird is that it is not related to the x,y distance to the unit in question. I can be 2 tiles away and it will still lose it's shadow if the camera is on the 2nd cliff level. Yet, another unit much farther away will retain its shadow even while the camera is on the 2nd cliff level. I have the shadow clip distance set to 20000, and the max zoom distance is 200.
Is 200 + cliff level 2 height too far for that finite resolution?
I think some can be modified by manually editing your options file. For example the shadowmap pixel dimensions can be adjusted as well as the number of high detailed map chunks that are loaded at any given time.
The option file is found in Documents/StarCraft II and is local per user account per installed system. Changes you make to your option file will not affect anyone else but you.
Ive increased the Zoom out levels, but noticed that shadows disappear if you zoom out far enough.
Is there an editor setting for this, or is it a game settings thing?
If it is a game settings thing, where can I find it? as I didn't see it in the in game settings menu.

Working on projects:
Thank you. I am planning to put a settings filter in front of it via triggers.

Or is there some other setting Im missing?
There is some form of Level of Detail in StarCraft II. Distant objects have simplified or no shadows.
Can those LoD settings be modified somewhere?
Either in the editor or ingame?

Thats fine, If its a user setting issue(no matter how obscure that use setting is) then Im less worried about it.
Thank you.
