The TerrainObjectBraxisAlphaZergHoleLargeDoodad\TerrainObjectBraxisAlphaZergHoleLargeDoodad _PrtMdl_bug.m3 model is a simple cool looking bug that lacks anything except a walk animation. Make it the horror that all players feel will crawl up to them when they first see the zerg holes.
Challenges:
Make the bug able to stand still when not moving
Give them something special so they are able to attack
Currently working on something for this, just out of interest.
I'm looking in the actor commands, trying to find a way to make the animation pause when the unit itself stands still... but can't quite figure it out...
Also.... I'm going to go the defensive spellcaster route, since there are no attachtment points on the model, so it would be hard to add any proper-looking attacks...
In short have a looping timer on the actor that uses a Validate Unit term which then uses the appropriate validator for movement speed, note a unit is known as turning when the Move ability is queued but the speed is 0.
And true the regular period of the body angular rotation would be a challenge to compensate for even though it is straight down the axis of the unit.
So, I was trying to make it a unit that morphed from the Roach, like banelings do with zerglings....
Unfortunately, it decided that is was going to change the name of the roach, and make me unable to change it back.... so now I have to start my work over.... *headdesk*
I was taking a look at the moving validators, and they will definately help.
I think I might take a bit of time to try to hunt down the texture for this thing, and maybe fix it up to be a bit more zerg-like, if that is allowed in this thing...
So I'm hoping to revive the WDEs so here's a submission that will respark interest. Have fun. Please excuse the really terrible naming, not my strong suit.
There is a already a WDE for that, #24 Chinese Dragon. The problem with them is that they appear complicated to use so unless some documentation on their usage is released, it likely won't get many submission. I'd suggest starting with something simple that new people would be interested in doing that would be within their skill range.
Also, I've noticed that some people in previous WDEs have commented that the latest ones were too difficult for the average mapper and I agree with them mostly.

@AtikLYar: Go
In general, keep to the theme, but do what you must :)
Actor Events:
UnitMovementUpdate.Stop -Animation Pause All
UnitMovementUpdate.Move -Animation Play 'Move'

this bug is mad. I like it.
Not bad. Yeah the WDEs need to be revived but I say monthly since submissions are quite low atm.
Think a WDE on the serpent actors would find appeal?

Dang so long ago I forgot.
Experiment or look at the protoss snake/zerg viper from hots.
What about making use of the battery ability that when a unit runs out of energy it issues orders to move to the recharge?

Yeah, that should be interesting.
