Mayby it's a stupid question, but I have a problem with creating special abillities for my buildings. The question is: It is possible to make structures blinking? Or making cloacked like a ghost? If yes - how could I do that?
select the structure in the data editor ( top left )
at the bottom left part of the data editor , make sure you slect the top thing ( so you can see ALL the tower stats ,) in the search field top right type in: foot print . it should pop up 3 foot prints ( 2 of them being used ) remove them. change it to (nothing)
if that doesnt work. the only other thing i can think of is:
ad a build option to the tower ( like a probe/scv ) that builds the tower ( boost the range to what ever distance ) and add a kill unit effect ( look at the salvige bunker effect )
this will basicly make your tower build a new tower just like it and at the same time destroy the existing building ( sorta like a blink :P ) lol
Unfortunately, I found the footprints and it's still doesn't work. :( My nexus now for example is jumping when I hit them with the hybrid shockwave - lol. :) The second way that you propose it's possibile but is it not give the "blinked structure" the max stats? For example - the life or the shields of the "blinked" building will be different then it was in the "after blink" structure, is it? :(
yeah the second way you would almostneed a trigger bank system
im at work now . ill look into it when i get home see if i can find a way to blink structures. but i think i remember some one posting about that some where in the forum . and they have solved it . not sure where doh.
ok so , i dunno whats going on , but i simply added the blink , took out foot print . change a couple setings and it works fine.
here is the map . look at the nexus it self you might have forgoten to do something.
type in : a (space) to find my nexus.
EDIT: if lacking the footprint is not good ( meaning players can build it almost any where ) not much u can do about that Unless you figuer out a trigger that ADDS a foot print to a unit after it uses a ability. but im not a trigger guy sorry :S
