I'm currently working on a custom map that requires that workers be able to build certain custom buildings that I have created. How is this done? Can someone please link me to a tutorial? (I can't find one.)

None of that works! You can't add that ability via just the ability and command card options because the actual option for "Warp in Photon Defender" isn't there! It has to be added manually and that is what I need help with!
So you went to the Train type ability under the abilities data type and added your unit to the ability along with a default button? You then added the button to the command card of your uit under the Units data type?
I just tried that and still nothing is working. I need a tutorial for this. I want the probe, scv, and drone to be able to each build the Photon Defender. I need to learn this step by step. Help?

1- create the unit
2- create a new button for it, if the buttons for each worker are different somehow then create 3 buttons.
3- Edit the build ability for each worker and add an entry for your building.
4- Edit the worker unit's command card and add the button to it.
There are other things that may be necessary, like creating a requirement for the building if its not going to use a requirement that already exists.

Hm... I've tried this and I think you're missing some steps...
I made it all the way to step 3 and then I ran into problems:
There is no ability called "Warp in Photon Defender", "Build Photon Defender", or "Mutate into Photon Defender".
I can't figure out how to link my button with my unit, which is what the other buildings have done.
I can't figure out how to set the an ability's unit, that's if I even succeed in creating the ability (I tested with other, pre-made abilitys).
I'm so sorry it's just that I'm so confused! None of it makes any sense! I can't even find the Train ability because when I look, it only has Train for buildings!
If you don't feel like helping me anymore than I understand because I know I've been kind of anoying on this thread...
But if you do wish to still help me, here is the map, also keep in mind that the Photon Defender unit/building is in alpha stage, so it might be buggy if you test it out:

Just tried again using your new advice and it didn't work. I can't figure out how to link my button and/or my ability, or even just anything, with my unit/building. I got all the way to the point where I had the buttons in but I couldn't find an option to actually have it build my unit. Also, when I tested it out, none of the buttons showed up.

should only requre one change.
remember the build ability has several fields related to a building being built...
you want to change it from where it describes building the pylon unit and change that to your custom unit......
learn how the build abilities work before you try to manipulate them or your gonna get lost fast.
so your new buttons on the unit dont show?
tell us where your stuck exactly ..... stick to the facts.... need details.... take screen shots...
And if all else fails upload the map for us to look at.

Also... @ the other guy: you mean replace the pylon as a test? Because if it's not for a test than that won't work because the map requires that you still be able to build all normal buildings.

OMG I JUST FIGURED OUT WHAT IM DOING WRONG!
You know that window that you can open in Info+ that has all those options like effects and other such stuff? Well stupid me didn't notice a scroll bar on the side of window.... Until now.... I scrolled down to find more options including unit options....

Well.... Now that I have the build thing working... How do I fix the actor problem? Like it's not building the actor but only the unit, thus making the unit have no abilities.

I tried but it doesn't have the option to warp in my custom building, the "Photon Defender". How do I add the option? It probably requires an actor.

Heres a new idea to help you learn.
go into the probes - build ability and substitute the your building for the "pylon".
