Hey so here is the deal i have a hero that will use a psi strike ability sort of like wow's sinister strike. I have made it with Effect: Instant - Combat: damage dealing 20 dmg. Reason for Effect: instant, is i just want the unit to use this ability on the unit he is already attacking not having to click or include search area. Is this possible in data or do i need to use triggers. Please help as i am new to data editor but learning fast just stumped on this. P.S. most of my abilities my heroes will use will be like this one if i can get it to work.
i believe augments will work too, as they are spells that are used on you're next attack, or what ever you augment them too. it's the same way zealot charge is used, so if it's on auto cast, an u tell it to atk someone, it'll charge to them when it attacks.

Hey so i have been trying to see if these solutions would work for my ability but i think my problems with making this ability may have been misunderstood.
The first ability still requires you to select a target and does not just attack the target that the unit is already attack and augment still requires target as well.
What I'm trying to do is just have a unit use an ability that will attack the units target without having to target them just hit the button and it will attack the units target.

No, but i did figured out some of it, I just took the snipe ability and changed the effect to instant and removed the actors and added my own. I feel dumb now because all i needed to do on my old ability that i made was change the target impact location: to target unit/point. I had it at caster before (which i thought i had changed) Any way what it does now, is when i use the ability it finds the target that has already been targeted by the attack command and if in range it attacks doing the set damage. But now i need to make it so it does the weapon damage and the ability damage at the same time on the target. Is this where augment comes in.

Already solved this ages ago, here is a demo map, there is probably a more efficient method but I have not got round to making one.
In short your effect instant applies a buff that uses a damage esponse on attacker that uses a set which removes the buff and does the bonus damage

Augment uses an effect in combination with ordering the use of an ability so might not be what he wants as it would use the effect then attack.

Sure a buff with damage response on attacker would not also work?
