Im messing around with the Zurvan Tentacle. How can I change the attack damage so it does damage to units at any cliff level and increase the reach of the tentacle.
The actor itself is very limited. It only has a single attack animation that is set to a specific height. To increase the reach of the actor would require you to adjust the Z scale of the actor. To adjust the attack height would require you to host the actor on something able to adjust the height depending on the target height (like my autoharvester demo).
Still messing around with the tentacle. Now when it attacks with the slam ability it indicates with a red marker where it is going to slam. But if my units has move outside the marker the tentacle turns and slams me any way outside the red marker.
Can this be fixed to only hit the units inside the red marker?
Edit: it seems it only has this problem when using auto cast. But I would need it to auto cast the ability....
I also have noticed auto cast occasionally totally ignores the arc of the ability. Considered making it a behaviour? Or using a behaviour to use an Issue Order effect to make it use the ability on the target?

I was thinking of a Buff behaviour with a periodic Search Area effect that only finds one target. The arc and angle of the search can then be tailored to your tentacle. You might want to use a set effect that also applies a second buff that disables the searching buff once it finds a target.

Put it under the set effect. The target of the search will be the target of the issue order. Set the Effect: Ability field to your ability, the Effect: Unit - Value to Caster and the Target: Target - Value to Target. In short tell this unit to use that ability on the other unit.

So the ability can only cast directly in front of the tentacle to within 0.5 degrees to either side of where it is facing...
Maybe you are targeting a unit with the ability and not a point. Tat way once it has found a target it will only target where the unit was as opposed to the current position.

Unless you set your target sorts for the search it will always choose the closest target. If the target moves it will switch between targets and order the ability to be used on different units which can cause issues if it has a cast time. The stop search buff just disables the search buff and has a duration just under that of the ability cooldown. This will prevent extra unnecessary search cycles adding to lag or the previously mentioned problem with multiple targets.

Thanks for the answer. Im not so adept in behaviour. Are you think a behaviour that searches får units around the unit and then attacks?
I will mess around with the behaviour, is there a simular behaviour existing already?

So I got my perodic search are effect. How do I specify that once the unit is found, the tentacle should use my issue order effect?

The tentacle now attacks, but only in the same direction all the time, is it something wrong with the search effect?

Hmm, seem like it is set to point. I haven´´ t added a stop search buff yet, could that be the problem. How would is set that up? =/
