I've got no idea of how to do this or if it's even possible so I'll try to explain and if someone knows how to do it i'll be grateful.
Let's say I wanna make the zergling groups "look" like if there were more zerglings... Without more supply cost and without having to handle more units.
So I though, is there a way to make a unit called "zergling pack" wich is a unit, but there are like 5 zergling actors with an offset in it that act and behave at least looking ok but in ONE unit? I guess it would come to actor stuff, if this is the case can anyone tell me how or maybe make a test map :)
The second question comes with the weapon, with marines it wouldn t be a problem since they're ranged, but how would the pack attack? it should surround the enemy unit and attack or something 'cause if it gets in range and all units play their attack animations but only the two in front are actually in contact with the enemy unit it would be weird. Any ideas?
Please help... I'll check this out in a couple of hours when I'm back.
I attached an image to show what I mean.. I'm pretty sure this community has done this before, I think "Star Battle" uses this for fighters but they're ranged, my issue in weapons is mostly with melee. At least I hope you can help me with the actor stuff 'cause I know nothing about site operators...
Thanks.

I like the lore. Check my latest projects at:
My Profile and My Team
Especially on melee units like zerglings it would be extremely hard to make this look good. All zergling actors would have to be moved individually to approach and attack an enemy etc etc...
A different approach would probably be way easier: Use an invisible, selectable pack leader unit, make the zerglings in the pack unselectable and make them follow the leader.
Also I am pretty sure, this has been done before. Try to search for a squad system demo map or something.
Hmm, like making zergling "interceptors" only melee ones and give the "carrier unit" a melee attack too? Sounds easier than the squad system i'll give it a try, i want the simplest system on this since i may apply it to many different units at the same time.
Is there any system that could even improve lagg issues?
This magazine system, is there any way to make the minions remain visible and move with the caster as a squad?
Lol.. that's awesome i guess that should work, gonna try that now.
EDIT:
I made a duplicate from the broodlord ability (hangar)and gave it to the zergling unit; i also duplicated the zergling to make the minions but it doesn't work it just gets stuck making endless minions and cant move. If i give the zergling the broodlord ability it works perfectly as a broodlord.
Why bump if you have not added content next to that the previous post was exactly what you wanted.
Tried giving the commanding unit a different collision plane? Or maybe a higher push priority? The broodlord ability has a requirement limiting the number it makes.
Ok I made the ability duplicate, then in count start (broodlord says 2) i put 4, in count (brood lord says 1) a left it that way, i only edited magazine leash to 12, but its bugged. When game starts the caster just keeps spawning minions. If I burrow him many minions die and only the 4 i set live. After i unborrow him it's all ok.
EDIT: Done, the requirements weren't set to the right unit... weird, i've already changed them and then changed them again but it seems to reset the values... i don't know why the editor was bugged, i closed it and reopened the file and now it works fine. Thanks everyone.

I also came to think.. what would happen if there were two zergling packs fighting each other?? O_o

Thanks for your help, I've found one map with data and one trigger exercise, I'd rather make it fully data so I'll check it out and reply here later.
here's the link to the data one:

Could always use an Arm Magazine ability that makes unselectable minions.

Make the magazine external like the brood lord

I guess is the actor causing trouble..
Bump
Check the validators or requirements if you want to limit them.
