hi all, im making an immolation like spell. (That one from the demon hunter)
im kinda a beginner with the data editor but i watched many tutorials of Prozaic and i kinda though i would understand it. I tried to make it but it doesn't work.
Could someone watch my map and see what i forgot or post real quickly what i all need.
I made a immolation spell for my map, and though I did not look at your map I can tell you how to do it. Mine's a passive effect though so you'll need to link it to an ability
I made it like this:
Behavior - Immolation Aura (Buff)
set period (mine's set to 1)
link to Search Area effect
Effect - ImmolationSearchArea (Search Area)
go into the Search - Areas+ field and change the things there
mine's set to 360 arc, max count -1, radius 0.5, radius bonus 0
if you want the units under the effects of immolation to have a debuff icon appear make the ImmolationAddBehavior effect or if you don't care and just want it working skip to ImmolateDamage
Effect - ImmolationAddBehavior (Apply Behavior)

Behavior - Immolation (Buff)
make an icon and set the alignment to negative
link to the ImmolationDamage effect
Effect - ImmolationDamage (Damage)
set amount
Since you are making an ability you can ignore the first behavior and instead make the ability Immolation and link the effect to ImmolationSearchArea
In the ImmolationSearchArea, go to the Search - Search Filters and exclude self.
For the model, you need an actor and you need the behavior Immolation (buff) that I had above. Set the Actor to type Model and set the duration of the Immolation to 1 second. Models for the effect can vary but I used EnergyNovaBurn (Unarmed), you should also scale the model to whatever you like in the actor.
For the events in the actor here what you should have:
You linked the effects wrong, actually you had more things then you needed. What you did is you have the caster use immolation, and it hits the targets, that works fine. But you also made it so the targets getting damaged also casts immolation and thereby hitting your original caster.

Use this list:
Ability: Immolation -> Effect: Immolation (Caster) -> Behavior: Immolation (Caster) ->
Here's where you messed up, link the behavior to the search area not the target
Effect: Immolation (Search) ->
Uncheck Players in the Search field
Effect: Immolation (Target) -> Behavior: Immolation (Target)
Make sure the behavior is not linking to any other effects or behaviors.
