Make a unit that has a negative energy regen. Make a buff that deactivates the unit when energy hits 0. Make another unit with a Battery type ability to recharge at.
Challenges:
Get the automaton to automatically recharge when energy is getting low if it is performing a simple task like harvesting
Get the unit to return to work once it has finished recharging

Hum The automatron automatically did go recharge that guy. You could just go AFK and it will automatically recharge him none stop. And it return to work right after lol.
I modified a pylon to meet some of the requirements. The modified pylon appears on my map, but no longer appears in my data editor. You guys no where it went? I changed its name, but now I just get the old one. :(
Dr. I noticed that the WDE has a slot in the Current Events. Is it possible to swap that out with this one using Mozared's trick? It took me a few minutes to find this thread in the Forums.
Is it possible to point one in the direction of a tutorial on this? I am stuck.
I have SCVs that have energy that lose it over time. As well as a pylon that can recharge them if they go near it.
I just can't figure out how to switch the behaviors so the scvs shutdown when it runs out of energy. I've looked into validators, but sorta feel like tumbling down the rabbit hole. Any points/advice in the right direction is much appreciated.
Tip for everyone. With a Unit Compare Vital validator in the Behaviour: Validators (Disable) field of a Buff behaviour, you can detect when a unit reaches 0 energy.
I got the compare vitals validator to go onto my scv's buff, but I can't figure out where to go to make it shut down when its energy reaches zero. The buff shows up on the unit, but doesn't do anything to it when it reaches zero. I know I am close.
Also, I have pylons set up that give energy, but sometimes it will say "cant turn toward target" and refuse to give energy. Any ideas?
Try looking at the modification table under the behavior section (these a fields inside the behavior). You can suppress movement, combat, etc using it.
Try setting the abilities arc to 360 It should be at the top of the ability zone.
And my attempt at this.
Use space to toggle EMP-ing everything with your mouse.
Thanks for the help. I figured out what the deal was with the validators and got my scvs to shut down when their energy goes to zero.
Still need help:
1) What trigger or behavior/validator should I use once my SCVs need to go and get recharged
2) Cnce they are recharged up what should I use to send them back to work.
I was trying to just just use a periodic event that is timed to their energy loss, but it only fires one and I don't think this is the right way to do it. I can't figure it out and any help/direction is much appreciated.

Very well done. I like it.
A 3/5. You covered the basics but did not do any of the challenges. Still, thank you for trying.

Nrm 5/5. Still would have been better if the unit could prempt the other running out and recharge it before it is completely drained.

This isn't a competition so maybe avoid grading people's work. It may be felt as slightly rude.
Oh well spool, that like a homework. Everyone can get full mark, but with a side-note. Not really a competition.
Mine lack
Seriously not a amazing version I made, just a basic X/X mark.
How is the multicasting by the way?

Not so easy the source code seems to resist any keyboard input.

As stated have a buff that enables which disables stuff.

An updated version of mine. Actors for the effects and it looks nice now. Also added a siphon energy ability to the Wall-EE.

Check the wiki on buff behaviours it says it all there.
Set the arc or allow the unit to turn.
