Use a vitals validator in a behavior to check if their energy is below a certain threshehold (when you want them to go and recharhe). Use a search area effect and an issue order effect to get them recharged.
An interesting tidbit of information regarding the Battery ability I found while testing which answer the question as to why it cannot be used on enemy units. For a unit to be affected it needs to be commendable. I've determined that what the Battery ability does is order the unit to run the effect multiple times, so all units which cannot be ordered, like enemy and neutral units as well as units with the uncommandable are not affected. I'll add this to the wiki.
I have finished my map! *Applause in background. Fireworks explode.* Yeah, anyways. So like usual, I went beyond the specifications... sort of. The probes have energy, they go get recharged when out of energy, they return to mining minerals when they're fully charged. I got too lazy to make them return to mining vespene but I may fix that later.
Warning Do not place a another Obelisk on the map. Probes have simple AIs and are easily confused...
Bleh, figured it out. Battery ability uses the Move ability for continuous repetition of the effect. Unit needs to be movable, which all structures aren't since they have a footprint, no move ability and move speed 0. With a nexus I gave it the Move ability, removed its footprint and gave it Move Speed and Acceleration and it worked on structures.
Man nice job. I had to give up on this, but I was enjoying myself. I couldn't get all the parts to line up. I do appreciate the help and will knock out the next Data Exercise. I'm already using what I learned in the map I'm working on!! Yay!
Did we ever figure out how to update the Current Events? Did Mozared reveal his secrets. I think more people would participate if it was up on the front page. This thread gets buried very quickly.

Use an Issue Order effect to tell them the union break is over.
You could go a step further and rely on Unit Order Queue validator as part of a system to mark what resource/task the unit has to go back to.

Here's an updated version of the map. Probe AIs have been upgraded to allow for the placement of multiple obelisks. Have fun.

Will be when I have time to think of one. Having 64+ hour weeks can be a bit time consuming and that is not including the 14 hours travel.
