i want to give it all the upgrades that it can have, in short have a fortified bunker with the turret on top of it, but i have a small problem.
i can make it a fortified bunker, but the turret doesnt work, now i might have forgot to add some thing in the upgrade/dependancies etc but i am wondering.
can the fortified bunker, have the shirk *sp* turret on it or not? would i have to do some more editing to add it to the bunker?
I can say it is possible because I have done it.
Though, I didn't use any pre-defined bunkers and related upgrades : I just created new units, actors, models and everything related. It also made it possible to have all kinds of bunkers simultaneously for the same player (regular, fortified, regular with turret, fortified with turret).
If there's some kind of conflict between the fortified bunker and turret upgrades for the existing units (after all, it's not possible to get both at the same time in the campaign), the safest path would be to create new units just as you want them to be.
@StragusMapster: Go I don't think there's any kind of conflict. I've seen some people having problems with the shrike turret around here. I know just making players able to upgrade the original campaign upgrade for shrike turrets will make them wotk normally, also making players able to upgrade fortified bunkers will work too, I see no reason for the 2 not work together, unless the fortified model lacks the used attachment point.
@spy46: Tell us exactly what happens when a player has both upgrades completed. It may be a dependency problems, who knows.
as it is, i still have to check on some things, the fort bunker works just fine, but the turet does not appear, might have missed some thing in its upgrade creation, but im TOLD when using the upgrade that it is compleated.
i was just going to use the normal shrike turret, unless i have to add one for the fort bunker, then i might want to play with that idea a bit
(always thought it looked kind of funny)
over all i think its all still defaulted storymode save for where its upgraded from.
@DrSuperEvil: Go Yes, you're right, I too believe people learn a lot by simply trying to use the editor. But it can become frustrating and even infuriating when you can't make progress as fast as you'd want or can't make any progress at all. Maybe he's over his head with what he's trying to do right now so he'll learn how to do it later.
@spy46: Go Rethink the steps you took to make both upgrades work. Maybe the problem is already there in the standard data, nut maybe you did something wrong.
you are right about things getting frustrating or worse when you kep running into a dead end and yes it is better to learn from doing, but if you dont know how to do it then what do you do?
my actual problem is that there are too many tabs or windows and some of them have the same name or names in them etc.
so being told to open the ...... art to do some thing, but not given the full path, i can and have found other ones called the same thing, and because i see 2 or even 3 of them, what one do i use?
it gets confusing and frustrating and so i ask the questions looking for the paths etc..
as for the upgrade, i think i know what ive done, just have to test it out now.
Sure your data editor is set to the correct settings? Then if you have the fields listed in alphabetical order it should be pretty easy to find the right ones.

The actor part purely swaps the UI icon of the bunker.
The first weapon disables the Disable flag under the Weapon - Options field of the Weapons data type allowing the weapon to fire.
The second disables the Hidden flag so you can see the weapon in the UI.
Why would any of those prevent you from using the upgrade?

it was just a shot in the dark because im still not sure what the problem is with the turret upgrade on the bunker because its still saying its compleated, but does not show up.
its probably some thing really stupid that i should know now and im just not seeing it.
is there any thing that would make this upgrade different from others?

Just go to the previewer and look if it has a TurretZ attachment point. Or check the events of the actor for the fortified bunker.

To make things faster I checked the model and it has a TurretZ attachment point, so that's not the problem.
I know that but he needs to improve on his methodology. And his technical definitions.

in the upgrade tab - data reference there is a list of actor, weapon, weapon.
both weapons are set to dissabled, should they be changed? havent done any thing to them.

the turret does not .... spawn, but the upgrade is reasearchable as if it did work
