As the title says, I have an ability called explosive wave that damages enemies in a line, however its hard to balance how much damage it does since sometimes units are hit by multiple blasts in a single cast, is there an easy way to have only 1 explosion damage a unit per cast? The explosions occur about .15 seconds apart btw. I get the feeling that this has something to do with markers. If someone wants to link me to a tutorial that will be an acceptable answer too.

Is there only 1 hero-type unit casting the spell? If so, attach a 1 second behavior into the effect chain, and make the damage effect be validated by "must not have 1 second behavior" in order to be created.

Have a look at Hellion or Lurker damage and how it is applied? Can't tell for sure without the editor open, but that's how I would try to do what you are looking for.
