Strange request here, dont know if it can be done.
My goal, to make a map that has 2 computer players fighting each other when the map starts. They would start the map with harvesters and a base, and build up and attack each other as if they were fighting each other in a 1v1 match. They would ignore any activity done by the players (unless attacked of course) and build, progress, and all the fun stuff that the computer does vs you. Is this as simple as creating 2 AI players, a starting point, a nexus, 5 probes, and starting the game?
Default melee AI will probably work for that, but you need to make them ignore your units. You can try to set the player to neutral with them, and change to enemy for 20/30 seconds if the player attacks any AI unit.
You think that will work? Just to clarify what im shooting for. Basically, im looking to make a map, where 2 computer players fight each other as if the player were not there. The player will have no starting position, at least not a standard melee game type. Ideally, they would fight each other back and forth while the player, controlling a few hero units, can interact with the fight as they see fit (causing the comp to attack them when in range of these units). If not acted apon, they should fight each other until one or the other wins.
Strange request i know, thanks for bearing with me.
Yes, this is very easily setup. Do what you suggested and then just some additional triggers to set them as enemies to one another and ally to the player, then setup whatever methods you want so you can watch them duke it out without the game ending and you able to see the action (put down reveals etc).
