So under what conditions is it meant to swap to the archon actor? Reason is when a merge starts that is while it is in the process of merging and the merge stop is when it is complete and you finally see your unit.
it should swap to the Archon model when it starts merging, because Dark Archon does not have stand work animation (or other - i don't remember).
start merging - swap model to the archon, set tint color and play animation "stand work" (i set up the terms to make it fire the event in appropriate order)
stop merging - reset tint color, stop animation and swap back to the dark archon model
but actor creation works fine. the problem is that it doesn't swap model. i want to swap it, but when 2 dark templars merge into 1 dark archon - the game shows "stand" animation for dark archon instead of swaping and playing stand work anim.
that would cause another problem when placing dark archons with archon's model in the editor. i would get more confused... because of that i want to make it that way.
edit: i'll try some other option and write here if it works.
i had an idea. i modified Build model for that dark archon. now it works as it should, but i think that now event that swaps dark archon model to normal archon model is not neccessary...
now, i'll try to make some other thing work: when archon is created (after merging process) it just stands. i want him to "bounce" (i don't know how to name that even in my natural language :D) like a regular archon (animation between merging done - stand work and stand)

i try to switch actor's model to other when the unit uses ability. the problem is: that doesn't work... i will attach picture with events.
i have tried unitbirth event, but no effect...
edit: base model i use is DarkProtossArchon, so that should work, i think...
i think it should work: use ability - swap model to archon and apply tint; stop using ability - swap model to dark archon and remove tint

i set up these terms, because i want to switch the model twice and don't want to mess up with wrong switch.
Those terms are probably what make the message fail, though. You are better off using SetStatus Messages and IsStatus Terms.
i examined these terms. the term in event that changes tint color works, but shouldn't work until the game switches actor's model... o.O
that's surely weird for me.

i set the terms and events to set/read the status, but it still doesn't work...
Try without the terms. I only use terms if there is a bug.

it is ability "mergeable". it allows 2 dark templars to merge into dark archon. ability works fine. i copied the actor from Archon actor.

as i have mentioned it in the first post - basic model is darkprotossarchon. it is available in liberty campaign mod
Why not just make it the normal archon model and only perform one model swap when merging finishes?
