I have a character that will use multiple stances (one stance at a time, they can't overlap in any way - think Udyr from LoL). He's supposed to change stance pretty much every 3-5 seconds average.
And for clarity's sake, I want to have his abilities buttons modified to add even more feedback about which stance he's using, with a recolored icon and a slightly different tooltip.
Here comes the problem. The editor only allows one button and requirement per ability, and we can't add a requirement in the unit's command card for ability buttons. Which means I'm actually stuck with only one button.
Greetings, what type of ability are you currently useing, if its an effect Instant or an ability that can be mimicked by an effect instant ability then you could possibly use a Specialization ability. If i knew more about what a Stance is Data wise i could give a more accurate answer.
To accomplish this, I would make separate Effect - Instant abilities for each stance that apply the "stance" (presumably a buff behavior) to the caster and set up buttons and requirements for each ability that show/hide the correct stance abilities when they are active.
Are the stances purely buffs or for indicating a status? If so, a behavior type ability can do this, they now accept multiple behaviors, and allow you to cycle through them. Though that doesn't let you pick the next stance.
The character is a minionmancer-type. He can uses a spell to sacrifice one of his minions, which changes his stance according to the minion type he sacrificed.
The stance changes the effect of all his other spells, excepting the one that summon minions.
Everything is done and working fine, the button swap is all I'm missing.
Can't find any other way, so... I'll use multiple abilities. The ability cap doesn't really bother me as the characters won't learn new abilities, but it's not the most elegant solution.
Can you make 2 different buttons to command card? One is hidden when [requirement] is met and other is visible when [requirement] is not met. Just a very generic idea, I dont have much experience about that kind of stuff.
i know this is a bit old now but i thought i should say something more. using the Specialize Ability you can have i believe 20 sub abilities within it like builds or trains in a build or train ability, these sub abilities i believe function like effect instant abilities, which can be worked around. the important part however is that each sub ability can have its own buttons with requirements and its own effects. now if each stance is a Behavior, you can use requirements to show only the button associated with that stance behavior.

Hey everyone!
It's been a long time. Still love ya.
Anyway.

Anyone already tried something similar?

Try this:
1. Open Data Editor
2. Go to Abilities Tab
3. Find the ability you're looking for
4. Click on it and look at the table displayed to the right (put your data editor in table mode using the options bar at the top of the screen)
5. Double-click on the "Info" cell or search for it.
6. A window will pop up with a list of buttons and ability effects attached to the main ability.
7. Add a new item to that list and edit the data as you like.

Thanks for the answers.

Can't find the "Info" cell.
Also, don't bother with points 1 to 4, I've not been here for a while but I'm still a veteran :p

If someone find a better idea, let me know !

The problem is that once you've assigned an ability to a command card button, you can't add a requirement.
Remove then re add and it should work.
