Think i didn't do that already? I dunno where to paste this: UI/ResourceIconNoBackground0 I used move to command in import editor and pasted that but it didnt change anything. I tried pasting it in UI editor and didnt work either. Didnt try pasting it to both yet but i see no point in guessing. Using mapster search gives results such as this data/19745-change-custom-resource-icon/#p1 where a guy doesnt get any response or doesnt get help. The link you sent me has broken error 404 photos and doesnt tell where do i paste these strings.
You can use the method I posted a year or so ago. You hook the resource icon UI element to a trigger UI handle and then modify the image path of that UI element handle. The result was that I could dynamically change the supply, and other, resource icons during gameplay without the need to import anything. Like everything UI related you can specify to which players it will affect as well so it is completely possible to assign every player unique resource icons based on choices made during gameplay.
"UI/ResourceIconNoBackground0" is the link for icon image, if you want game to display imported icon then type here your imported icons directory. (for example I imported a custom solarite icon called "Icon_Solarite.dds" which I put into "Imports/Icons/" import folders. To display it I replaced "UI/ResourceIconNoBackground0" with "Imports/Icons/Icon_Solarite.dds". If you're not organizing your import folders and just importing into default space then just file name (for ex. "Icon_Solarite.dds") should suffice.)
No need to import to special paths, you can dynamically change the icon path during gameplay as shown in the demo map with supply.
While this method showcases UI element hookup to dialog which is super useful and is definitely worth learning, changing resource icon through Data->Game UI Data changes it everywhere it's used (construction/morph/ability cost display).
Since I'm a noob in UI I don't know if it's possible to change those too via hookup, but if it is - would be great to have an example map for that <3
the solution was posted here a couple of years ago, i used it recently for my mod, to change the standard terrazine icon into something more dinstinctive, so it still works
Except none of those pictures work so all of these ''look here'' example pictures don't show shit all so we cant see shit.
i'd of preferred more answer's instead of just pointing to a tutorial so old its pictures don't work thus I have no idea what hes talking about. I too found those tutorials to not be very helpful. which is exactly what ZenonMalinowski was complaining about.
so how DO you change the resource icons? I still don't know even after this long and un accurate tutorial:
because he doesn't even say what hes editing or where, is this text file a NOTE PAD FILE? in my IMPORT MANAGER? what am I doing. I do not know.
''Default Starcraft2 "Assets.txt" can be found in "patch.sc2archive/mods/liberty.sc2mod/base.sc2data/GameData/Assets.txt"
You can open .sc2archive files using any MPQ editor.''
what so now im editing mpqs? thats insane do you have any idea how much stuff is in an mpq I dont wana edit any mpqs the hell man.
I even tested the map, found the 2 special resources not being showed for any race, changed that, and still the test maps custom import icons don't work

When trying to download your map i get this:
Right click on the attachement and "Save As"
GameUIData-> Default SC2 UI Settings->Resources+ ->

SC2Mapster problem. The download is opened as a web page rather than a downloadable file.

@k3llym0: Go
You seem so frustrated, did this not help at all?
Tried the UI: Resources - Icon field of the Game UI Data data type?
The demo map of my brother in post #7 also works but you need to change: "UIContainer/FullscreenUpperContainer/ResourcePanel/ResourceFrame/SupplyIcon"
to:
"UIContainer/FullscreenUpperContainer/ResourcePanel/ResourceFrame/ResourceIcon0"
