I'm 2 problems with beams on a map I'm making. The first is that the beam doesn't show, and this happens when I'm using a specific beam models only. The second problem is that some of the beams that do load turn pratically invisible when I tint them to black.
Has anyone else had these problems or does anyone know how do fix them?
1) This is an Event issue with the actors causing them to play the death animation before self destructing. Alter the events to suit your needs so they do not do the death animation.
2) Beams are mostly emissive with a semitransparent diffuse layer. Try retexturing them or altering the HDR.

if you are using an action actor then make sure that the actor is choosing the right effect that you are using and go to the events the check if the beam is created after the effect is started and it end after the effect is finished
some models may not shows up if you choose a very dark color like vortex ( specialy if you are using low graphic ) so dont go too dark
